Danny didn't even redshirt and sat on bench for 2 seasons, so very unlikely Troy decides to redshirt.

Agreed, kid isn't going to just sit the bench and watch AJ Wilson and Greg Calixte take his reps this season and then have to compete with Reuter after that? No way Temara is doing that.
I have a feeling all of this is going to happen ^ whether he redshirts or not but we will see

Elective (non-injury) redshirts are going the way of the dinosaur because of the grad transfer rule.

If you're a coach, why take a chance and hold a kid back a year for developmental purposes when the kid might graduate and use his fifth year of eligibility to go play for a P-5 school?

These days, you either develop your game in the offseason and keep improving or you get recruited over and transfer.

Interesting thought, I never thought of that logic before. But I could imagine coaches having a slight twist to this thought. Maybe they know their recruit will be a grad transfer but is ok with that because three years of playing is better than 0.

For instance player X is reluctant to sign with a mid-major and redshirt. Coach says, "I promise if you sit out this year, I can develop you into a beast. If your not happy with my work you will have a year of eligibility remaining and perhaps you could even play for a p5 school."
Just a thought.

I found this quote to be interesting:

"But going through a summer of practices, which I love, that's really been a great positive for me, seeing how competitive he is. It pushes you and pushes the guys around you. You don't ever want to feel like your coach is wanting it more than you. Having him around like that, it pushes you."

We've all talked about how hard this team competes, even when they're over-matched. Seems like this may have something to do with that.

Beyond stoked to see what Jarred does the next two seasons.

I think people who focus only on his stats at UVa are going to be amazed.

Jarred moves really well for a guy that big, and I like that he goes for the easy dunks rather than risking a layup. Always take the highest percentage shot!

Dave went on the By George podcast with Petey and said Jarred is good enough to be a top-5 player in the
A-10.

If he’s right, we are going to absolutely wreck this league because we already have a top-5 player in Otis.

I just don't see it. I want to, like real bad but I just don't. Then again this is a VERY different and depleted A-10 next season...

Dave has seen Reuter practice and play for a year now. What have you seen from him?

I’d take the evidence of Calixte’s improvement and say that I believe Dave. You’ve got to assume that Reuter is better enough than Calixte to develop and mentor him like that.

Reuter also looked impressive in his limited minutes at UVA. I’ve heard from multiple UVA fans that we got a good one.

I’m intrigued to see if Reuter and Calixte can get some minutes together in the rotation. Both seem to have pretty soft hands and decent passing ability. I’m imagining the post-to-post feeds as both guys can catch and finish quickly.
