I’d take the evidence of Calixte’s improvement and say that I believe Dave. You’ve got to assume that Reuter is better enough than Calixte to develop and mentor him like that.

Reuter also looked impressive in his limited minutes at UVA. I’ve heard from multiple UVA fans that we got a good one.

I’m intrigued to see if Reuter and Calixte can get some minutes together in the rotation. Both seem to have pretty soft hands and decent passing ability. I’m imagining the post-to-post feeds as both guys can catch and finish quickly.

Speaking of Calixte and his development, we'll have the luxury of having him available if Reuter needs a few games to get into the swing of playing in games again. We won't have to start an under 200 pound freshman at the 5 while he gets up to speed.

If Masonjoe wants to be skeptical, let him be skeptical. I'm not exactly sure what he's not seeing, but whatever.

We can confirm that everything is on the table. Dave is not specifically a “small ball guy.” He admitted to coaching to to the strengths of his roster so far. Playing multiple bigs has clearly been a desire of ours so we picked his brain a little post interview.

The Spain trip should help Reuter and the entire team adjust to playing together.

It's not like Dave to make bold statements. One of my concerns going into the interview was that he sort of hedges and talks around things (it's just his conversation style with media) and we might not get anything interesting out of him.

He was unequivocal in his praise of Jarred. In addition to saying he thinks Jarred can be a top five player (which he didn't backpedal from after I told him that was a bold statement) he also mentioned Jarred again when we were talking about Jamal Hartwell. He says Hartwell is a really good shooter, which was important for him, because Jarred stands to be double-teamed in the post a lot. Dave couches his statements about everything, but he didn't with Jarred, which is telling I think.

Also, it's Roy-ter, not Roo-ter. Whoops.

34. Jarred Reuter C Jr, George Mason
16-17 Stats: 3.8ppg 2.2rpg 58%fg at Virginia
Reuter is a physical big man who occupied the back-up center role for Virginia during his first two seasons. At George Mason, he should see a much bigger role on a team that should be surprisingly good in the Atlantic Ten. The Patriots need a physical post presence to go along with their stellar group of guards and Reuter could vault them back into the NCAA Tournament. Expect Reuter to eclipse double figures in scoring and show his full offensive arsenal.

I take issue with the word “surprisingly” in this analysis, but let them sleep on us!

I agree. This team is bringing everyone back from a squad that finished, what, 11-7 in the league last season and adding a big in Reuter? The only thing that would be surprising to me, injuries aside, is if this team isn't competing for a NCAA bid (either auto or At-Large).

I was thinking, I know people follow Jarret on social media and stuff, but maybe we could keep closer tabs on him?

Follow him around, make sure he isn't hitting frat parties in the Fall like both 18-year old Chris Fleming and present day Chris Fleming?

This guy is too crucial for us to f**k up.

Fleming is a Final Four hero - he may participate in frat parties for the duration of his lifetime. I encourage it and believe I'm on the same page with Angel Cabrera on this.
