Welcome Jarred Reuter

Jaire is one of the top returning 3-point shooters in the A-10. He took a major leap forward in conference play and is far more likely to lead us in scoring the next two years than get knocked out of the lineup by one of our other guards.

The question for me is whether he starts at the 2 or 3.
I certainly think he'll start every game, I just don't know if anyone is untouchable to Dave bar Otis (and even he might have had a few games with significant bench minutes in the middle of last season if there had been anyone behind him). End of the day I don't see anyone taking his place, I was just pointing out that he was real cold to start last year.

Congrats to the staff.
I know GW was in the mix. Who else were we competing with?

GW was the other finalist, but there was a long list of schools with interest a few weeks ago, including ODU, Davidson, UMass, Bucknell, Boston U, Xavier, Providence, Rhody, Vermont, St. Johns

Before he was a UVa basketball player, Jarred Reuter was a BMX world champion

From the age of 8 to 13, Reuter won six national championships in a row, plus the two world titles.

“Every year, somebody bigger would recruit him for their team,” the elder Reuter said.

But just before high school, Reuter quit.

“It’s a sport for guys who aren’t really as tall,” the 6-foot-7 Reuter explained, “so once I wanted to start focusing on basketball, I stopped racing.”

GOD, I missed this thread all day yesterday because the idiot who started it is on my ignore list.

Hosts, any way to default to show that there ARE posts by people on your ignore list without having to read what they actually are?

I second this, especially with the ever growing ignore list

I don't sign in unless I actually have something to post, so I make sure that I see everything by default first, that could help?

Perhaps you could change your signature line... oh wait that wont do anything.

...or you could take them off your ignore list and just not read their posts.... :bricks:
But then what is the point of the ignore list? If there is a thread, I want to view the posts of the valuable forum members. I just don't want to have to see those by folks who are a net negative to the fanbase.

So back to Reuter- I'm really looking forward to seeing him play for 2 years. He should be a really nice supplement to the 2018-2019 team that will be loaded.

Also really nice to see that half the A-10 was interested and Mason was still able to get him.

Am I counting correctly that we will have 6 guys in the 19/20 class?!

Relvao
Boyd
Kier
Newman
Temara
Reuter

Thank god at least AJ redshirted last year or it would be 7. going to have really experienced teams in 18/19 and 19/20

Thats correct- and a nice mix of a class with guards and forwards too. No reason why those teams shouldn't be top 4 potential. Hopefully with the level of recruiting in the classes behind them, the talent will be replenished and maybe even upgraded.

Do you think there is anyway that Temara is red shirted this year, or more likely someone like Calixte? I really think Temara could utilize a redshirt more than anyone on our current roster.

I have been wondering this as well, Troy taking a red shirt would help him and help our roster, especially if we land a grad transfer big men to play this season. Even if Paulsen could sell Troy on doing it, it probably depends on how ready Calixte is to play day one, and how healthy Relvao's knees are.

This is an idea that gets kicked around almost every year after someone has an underwhelming freshman campaign but it never happens. Guys who have already played a year never get redshirted for development - it's always for injury related reasons. I don't doubt it might help him, just that it's exceedingly rare. People had the same idea about Ike Tate, Jon Arledge, etc.

If anyone gets redshirted it'll be an incoming freshman. No idea if that's in the plans or not.

Elective (non-injury) redshirts are going the way of the dinosaur because of the grad transfer rule.

If you're a coach, why take a chance and hold a kid back a year for developmental purposes when the kid might graduate and use his fifth year of eligibility to go play for a P-5 school?

These days, you either develop your game in the offseason and keep improving or you get recruited over and transfer.

Agreed, kid isn't going to just sit the bench and watch AJ Wilson and Greg Calixte take his reps this season and then have to compete with Reuter after that? No way Temara is doing that.
