GMU: Where Construction is Tradition

The school made a push to cull the small ones back around 2011-2012 but only succeeded in booting one. The current director of greek life would rather see 20 chapters of 35-40 people instead of 8-10 of 75 guys which I think is a shame. It isn't really good for anyone.

It's up this fall but they still have to apply for reinstatement.

Not sure of the exact numbers, but they have significantly more than 10-15 and have a pretty strong chapter. I expect them to be reinstated soon, as they have been recognized by nationals during the entire probation period and have received national awards as a chapter.
I could definitely be wrong but I had a classmate in Sig Chi and he always complained about nationals being up their A$$ because they had 20 guys tops and 10 of them were graduating.

My roommate who was in Sgima Chi echoed the same thing, although he said they were growing a bit but that was four years ago. Hard to grow when you can't advertise on campus and there are no off campus houses.

I am moving my boy onto campus this Thursday. He already has homework assignments for Calculus and his Rugby practice schedule. Had his first legal beer in Puerto Rico (drinking age is 18) last week on vacation. Have hooked him up with Pikapps.

I think I am crying while writing this. He is going to be the Lord of Washington Hall.

Interesting...
I like the idea of the enclosed courtyards in the second idea but I like the first better overall, especially with all the windows and green space there. Right now classes in Robinson are miserable affairs and feel hermetically sealed off from the outside world, so either design would be an improvement.
I also think that it makes a lot more sense to start building vertically on the developed land we have in order to have enough room to grow without cutting down the remaining trees we have. Having slightly more open space won't hurt, either.

Definitely need more open space. I like Mason but the one thing I never cared for is how cramped it is and lack of open green.

I like the new building - great concept that fits in with the current architecture.

Actually - with the new capital buildings being pushed out to what were the old parking lots they have spread everything out more so there is more open green space. This plan actually opens up more space between the building and library and the plaza.

This also happened with the new HHS building.

Some new sketches of Robinson Hall. Kind of a goofy looking thing.

MOAR RESEARCH BUILDINGS!

Older master plans had the research park on the west side of campus. They're probably gonna leave that open for future athletic development/construction then.

The addition of a building in-front of Merten Hall and the Research facilities on the Braddock Rd side will be interesting. Guess it's all part of the "new gateways" into Mason that they wanted to build and design.

You are correct - refer to the southwest sector plan. The west side will be used for athletic.

Which ones the research park? The image is super low res. Unless theres a way to view it higher res, I can't read these. Is it that massive a** thing where the student townhouses are? Or the three by Braddock?

Seriously though whatever that thing is by the RAC is f**king enourmous
