Game 28: AT Saint Joseph's University, Wednesday, February 21st, 7 PM, Atlantic 10 Network

I am thankful I heard Demery wasn't playing before tip-off. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Team looking about as good as can be expected. The improvement seems to be there now, if we finish okay I'm pretty to very positive going into the offseason.

And I hate being positive.

I think Otis should have got the assist on that, looked pretty clear that he tapped it to Boyd. Play by play says he was not credited with assist. :super angry:

GIVING DAY 2023
A, we didn’t give up a 20 point lead — we won the game.

B, it happens all the time in basketball. We almost pulled out a few of those this season ourselves. Look, Phil Martelli went zone, tripled the post and his gamble paid off. If Grayer, Otis and Boyd hit a few more shots to break that zone, it wouldn’t have been close.

We should all be thankful Otis is on our team, though. I mean, that was a Herculean effort just to get that ball over to Boyd.

A. Mason was up 20..... and then with 5 seconds left the game was tied. Hence, Mason gave up a 20-point lead.

Sure, they regained the lead with a desperation three.

B. Otis did not get an assist for the last play. I do not know if you could call fumbling the ball and having it bounce to Boyd a “Herculean effort”.

A lot of these nailbiters have come down, for me, to a lack of an experienced big who can get these rebounds. This game wouldn't have been nearly as close if we had a guy who could grab those crucial late stretch rebounds after a miss. I think SJU had something like 9 or 11 second chance points off missed 3s late in the second half, many of those were fought for under the basket where a big 5 should be going up and clearing those out.

I'm curious to find out why DP has gone small ball to end close games as of late. I'll ask the next chance I get. I would say Calixte has enough experience to get a late rebound at this point of the season.

Have you ever seen Greg shoot a free throw? lol

Worse than Mike Moe. That hitch has got to be corrected. You know what, though, even if he makes 1 of 2 most trips down, it's still better than giving up the offensive rebound. It's totally different when we are in an inbound/immediate foul type of situation.

I mean, come on... You'd rather we give up offensive rebounds and second chance points than secure rebounds and let Calixte go to the line and hopefully make 1 of 2? Also, on a made bucket, put him underneath your own basket on press break. Maybe someone can enlighten me on the hack-a-Shaq rule in NCAA but I thought you could only intentionally foul the ball handler.

Also, I was responding to someone suggesting we need more experienced rebounders. I guess we need great rebounders who can also shoot FTs well, not sure how many of those are at this level but hopefully we have one red shirting! Obviously happy we won, but if you haven't noticed the small ball lineup failing us late in games than.....

Every close game this team has won this year has been because of guard play down the stretch but I guess your right because DERRRR SIZE!
