That is disgusting, but not surprising. The envy of vcu past success for many of the board members comes out in a vile way. Please know there are a few of us here that don’t share this sentiment.

I don't think that more than one or two of the posters here share this nastiness. Good people as most are. I'm just amazed there's no one here that can control it. Can't believe what I just read. A little smack and ribbing is to be expected on a basketball board. Not this.

There are plenty of fine people on this forum, just no one who wants to defend you. That's what happens with Trolls. You enter this forum to stir up the pot and then get all weepy and butt-hurt when the pot boils over. If you write stuff here then make it something of value. Everyone on here, Troll or not, gets smacked down when they talk out of their sphincters. In short, if I really wanted to hear from an assho1e I'd fart!

All of a sudden we’re talking about offensive rebounds. Calixte clears the paint and allows others to clean up. Big Haiti started game 12, not like he had that much time to get acclimated to D1 play. It was a strategic coaching move and I give DP credit for it, it probably wasn’t easy telling one of the two sophomores he has left that they now have to come off the bench. I’m not even sure what we’re arguing at this point but I think it’s fairly clear there is enough of us wondering what DP sees in the small lineup to close games out. Sure, we have assumptions and some are probably right but why would I assume when I could just ask him? Ok fine, we’re clueless.

Wasn’t it just a pass, not a rebound? Anyways, Paulsen said in the post game that it was the best rebounding lineup and to read in to that how we will. Is that a dig at Calixte? That’s how I read into it. If DP doesn’t trust him to rebound, defend, or make free throws then I suspect we will continue to see him on the bench at the end of games.

Yup, this sums it up for me. Calixte is a liability when the opposing teams' guards make desperate drives into the paint to score quick buckets. Calixte is going to be a good player, but currently he's too raw defensively to chance putting opponents on the line to get easy points with the clock stopped. And it's certainly obvious to all that his free throw weakness makes Big Haiti an even greater threat to his own team in close games. The smaller line up used to close out games is not ideal, but it's all we have this season.

Our 5 guard lineup isn't exactly getting stops either. I don't think we got a single stop at the end of the last game. And we kept putting La Salle on the line, too, at the end of the previous game.

But if DP doesn't trust Calixte or AJ in those situations, he doesn't trust them.

I also think it's important to focus on the second half of DP's comment about that question in the post-game presser, in that the 5 guard lineup is a better passing team on the offensive side of the ball against a zone defense, with Mar on the baseline instead of Calixte or AJ. A lot of our problems on that side of the ball have been players just not knocking down shots (or untimely turnovers) late in games, too.

I have to admit, when By George first started I thought they were just as annoying as Ryan Kish (mainly because they said their stated purpose for the site was to build hype around the program, so they were just being blind homers to be blind homers), but every year they've gotten better and closer to a legit place to get news and insight. Bringing Petey Buckets on as an "analyst" was a big part of that for me.
