The program is heading in the right direction for sure no doubt about that. I completely disagree with Mason lawyer when he says the season was a failure. 20 wins in a coach's second season is pretty damn good. Especially since the program was left in shamblesz

But I wish more people had similar expectations as Mason Lawyer. Higher expectations result in the administration pumping more money into the program.

If don't have expectations to dance, we should have never left the CAA.
Then strike a big check, buddy. Otherwise, your expectations mean zippy.

Poor AJ Wilson just wants 24 gym access and we can't even provide that

There is a clear diff bt being a realistic fan and a shitty one and Mason Lawyer is def a shitty one.

Obviously I'm not articulate with my words. I think Mason is heading into the right direction.

Try thinking about it this way. Kids who have parents who expect straight As tend to study a tad harder then then the student who has parents who don't give a shit.

Obviously it's not realistic for Mason to go to the final four every year, but you should always expect great things.

But think about parenting. Parents who expect their children get straight As tend to study a tad harder then then the student who has parents who don't give a shit.

A child's parent = the coach for a basketball team. Our job is to support the team.

From Kenpom, Loyola was 15-16. Best win: beat Bucknell in a home game by 1 in mid-Feb, but lost to them by 13 at Bucknell.

Common opponents:
  1. Duquesne (lost to them by 5 in an away game--first game of the year)
  2. Towson (lost to them by 17 in an away game in Dec)

is there a 1 thru 16 seeding associated with the brackets?
it would be nice if GWU and GMU played on different dates so locals could see both.
is this a sign that the games will not be carried by ESPN?

Paulsen should be very familiar with them.

I will always remember this team as the one who double teamed Steph Curry even when he just stood in the corner.

So don't get me wrong, but I'm not a fan of us taking a bid in this tournament.

1) our guys are gassed
2) i believe it costs money
3) not thrilled by the teams we'd play
4) I don't see what positives come out of it, unless we are only only playing guys for next year (meaning no Moore or Jenkins, which I doubt and would be equally silly)
5) limited fan interest to show up at EBA
6) we closed out the year playing hard (even though we lost), anything but making the final will seem like a let down
7) I kinda agree with the sentiment that we should have standards as a program NCAAs or NIT, nothing else

Open to hearing opposing points.

I'm not mad that we are doing this, just don't see the benefit. I say let the guys enjoy what they accomplished, rest, go to class and get ready to make a bigger statement next year.

I think the argument is we are a very, very young team and the longer they get to practice together and the more game time they get, the more it will pay next season. I think if we were a senior laden team, I'd agree that there's no point in playing outside of the NIT.

Also, if we didn't just have multiple 20+ loss seasons in a row.

It's nuts, but the last time we went to this tournament was in 2013 and that field included Texas, Houston, and Purdue. The 2014 field had Texas A&M, Penn State, and Oregon State.

There was a Marquette blogger who said that last year felt like collusion among the P5 teams to kill off these lower tiered tournaments.

Bummed I'm out of town this week, but hopefully it will be streamed. Although I'm not usually big on theses tournaments, it can only help a team with only two upperclassmen get better. Let's go out and win this damn thing.
