CBI or CIT?

I noticed that GW had some graduate students playing this year (cavanaugh).

Not knowing how this works, is it possible that if Marquis and Jalen signed up for graduate school they can play another year?

Wouldnt that be amazing.

The GW players graduated, but still had eligibility left, so they transferred to another school as graduate students. Moore and Jenkins have used up their eligibility, so their college careers will be over once the season ends.

Jalen was already a grad. You get 4 years , grad student just means they previously sat out a year

Fordham played in it last year, so I just assumed.
I believe last season was the first time the CIT took an A10 school, and that was somewhat out of necessity, since other schools turned them down or picked the Vegas 16.

One would think 20 wins in the A-10 would get you a NIT bid.
Not this year. The selection committee is more savvy than that; just not a good enough league this year for that to do it - plus, it's not about the 20 wins overall. It's about the .500 mark in league. How do they justify taking the 7th place team, jumping over several other good A-10 teams? And they can't take them all because of an unusually small NIT bubble this year.

Agreed. They will take two, three max from the A10 and we are behind Richmond, St. Bonnie's and GW. Now maybe Richmond wins the auto and the A10 sneaks four teams into the tournament? Even still they're going to push another team off the bubble and into the NIT

Also, if we are being technical, we have 19 D1 wins.

Lets hope Rhode Island wins the tourney. Helps for recruiting across the league to say we get three teams to the ncaa tourney even in a down year

No word yet. Trying to find out but team probably won't announce anything until at least Sunday. Wants to holdout hope for NIT bracket.

@theTylerByrum you are usually in the know. Have you heard any discussion of a minor post season appearance?

http://giantkiller.co/2017/03/11/2017-postseason-tournament-scenarios-for-george-mason/:

"There is a chance that the Green and Gold will turn down a CIT or CBI bid. Both tournaments are ‘pay-for-play’ tournaments and in the CBI specifically, teams have to pay $50,000 to host a game. It puts the program and the athletic department in a tough position because that is not an easy decision.

I suspect that Mason would accept a bid to the CBI if given one, considering it would be Dave Pauslen’s first postseason tournament at Mason and a great send off for seniors Marquise Moore and Jalen Jenkins."

they have 2 - Steeves is in the MBA program, he is a Harvard graduate who sat out a year because of injury and the Ivy League does not allow red-shirting

Cavanaugh came as an ACC transfer and sat out a year but kept up his classwork. He graduated undergraduate last year but still had a year of eligibility left.

Sinha was the Big East Rookie of the Year at Seton Hall a few year ago and transferred - I am unsure what his academic progress looks like
