Kam Murrell was horrible
I forget about Kam Murrell because we got Otis and Grayer in year one and Kier and Boyd and Newman in year two with Marquise and we never really needed to play him

I don't think they are looking for a 'tall' PG. They are looking for a good PG, the right PG. If the kid can play, he can play.Interesting how the staff seemed to be looking for a tall PG but now we are back to a undersized kid.

Smaller sample size from West Coast. We've had busts from East Coast too - Holloway, Copes, Bennett, Tate (even if he became a cult favorite before his time was done), Temara, etc. We've had busts from Midwest too. It's a crapshoot.West Coast to East Coast has always bit us in the a**. Compare east coast and nyc corridor to west coast, and it will show clearly we have had better luck in those areas with guys simply sticking around. Much less performance. Westhead, G.C. Marcacinini, Kam Murrel.

First off, in year three Mason only had 8 scholarship players. But yeah Dixon and Temara were big misses. Relvao was eh. Did you forget about Kam Murrell. And Dixon was a rush to fill a spot. Temara is really the only full on recruiting miss at this point (with Relvao receiving an incomplete).
Why can't you get it through your thick head that we are still rebuilding. You'll probably argue that other teams filled spots easier but we had a culture issue to fix also. Hewitt also left the program in a shitty situation so our rep needed fixing too.First off, in year three Mason only had 8 scholarship players. But yeah Dixon and Temara were big misses. My sense is that if we are making this offer and push, we probably don't feel real good about our chances with Harris or Burton. Maybe this puts pressure on them to make a decision. Either way, if the staff likes Hartwell, let's get him. Otherwise we will be sitting around here complaining about having two unfilled scholarships and no PG for the future.
It's a small sample size, yes. ( add curtis mcants and contrell scott) But one with zero success. I hope and Pray that if DP gets a commit for Hartwell, that he will work out in that he doesent get home sick. Or meet a hot model and shack up with her mid season.

Next up to fix is our shitty fan base who don't show up to games. You are part of that buddy, now criticize yourself.

Mason can’t even get students to attend games.
Says the troll who ignored my larger point.Whined the troll who doesn't attend games.
Chill out man, don't have a heart attack. I'm not saying DP isn't the right coach, it appears he has the program going in the right direction. But it’s also fair to be objective and have questions.
I was responding to a poster who made the following comment about DP's recruiting.
"who are any of us to question it? I’d say they have earned the benefit of the doubt”
It’s my opinion that as a FAN I have every right to question DP's recruiting ability. At this point, I am not willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. DP is the reason the team only had 8 scholarship players. DP is the coach who brought in Tamera, Dixon, Murrell, and Relvao.
And chill out with the fan crap. I am not the problem. The product on the court the past 10 years is the problem. Mason can’t even get students to attend games.
Again, I understand DP had a big project on his hands. Probably bigger then he realized when he accepted the job. But I’m not ready to give a coach who is 47-52 “the benefit of the doubt”
This is what I'm talking about when I say that freshman aren't given the opportunity to develop that they once were. The game was just too fast for Temara, and who is to say it never would've slowed down. He has every physical tool you could have asked for, but was not ready to contribute so early. That doesn't earn the label of "bust". Dixon was the least talented guy of the group, but he was a hard worker with a good attitude that did what he could. He was signed late, like everyone else in that class and just didn't work out. Another D1 program saw fit to pick him up, and I hope he can find more success with them. The only thing that can be labeled a bust with Murrell was his 3 point shooting. He was a really tenacious defender, a really good free throw shooter, and he; like Dixon, was a hard worker and brought energy to the bench. Finally, to lump Relvao in with this group is unfair and misguided. He dealt with a lot of injuries, but when he was on the court, he was productive.DP is the coach who brought in Tamera, Dixon, Murrell, and Relvao.
Sorry to venture away from the usual pissing match, but Jamal picked up an offer from Hofstra yesterday. Strange timing that it was given right after the publicized interest from Mason. I'm not worried, just odd. Also, I read that Hawaii was at the game the other night scouting Hartwell too.
Anyway, anyone know if 1) we have offered yet, and 2) if this visit coming up is an official or unofficial visit? Would seem strange to me to give an official visit to someone we haven't offered, so I was just curious.
It would also seem weird to fly someone out from California for an unofficial.

Well an unofficial would mean that Hartwell is paying for the travel. It would also seem weird to fly someone out from California for an unofficial.

I consider him a bust based on the expectations we had for him. Until Copes, I think Tate was the highest rated recruit in program history. He turned things around a bit during his Junior and Senior years, but I don’t think he ever lived up to his hype. Doesn’t mean I think he was a bad player for us. Being a bust is as much about expectations as production.Tate was averaging about 19 minutes a game his Jr. year and more than 20 his senior year on a squad that was ranked in the Top 25. Not sure you can label that a bust.
I guess that’s my point. How do we know that we are flying him out? Maybe they are paying the bill... that’s what I’m trying to find out. There has never been any mention of an offer yet.
