I’m honestly kind of confused about whether it’s a good news/bad news kind of situation.

Suffice to say, the roster we have right now will not be the one that opens the 2018-19 season.

Hopefully things become clearer in the coming days....

I'm actually glad we didn't land Winchester. I didn't want us to sign a bench player from the Horizon League as a recruit.

What can I say? Young people change their minds for all kinds of reasons.

When Burton announced he was visiting Mason, neither Butler nor Wichita State was seriously in the picture yet. Had they been, I wouldn’t have been optimistic about our chances.

We also signed another PG in his class while he was on campus, further changing the calculus.

As far as Winchester goes, from what I was told he orally committed, then backed out. Not sure what I’m supposed to do about that.

Anyone who follows college recruiting and is surprised when things like this happen has the memory of a f**king gold fish. Talking about 18-20 year old kids who are entirely unpredictable.

Jim just shares what he hears, which comes with obvious caveats about said unpredictability.

I think the equation was this:

Terrific athlete + redshirt year + coaches who excel at skill development = better shooting

Water under the bridge at this point, though.

I for one am not at all upset but this. Let the kid do what he's gonna do. I love our team coming back, and kind of don't want any new pieces. Save the spot for someone we can get 4 years out of.

FWIW- he was 0 for 6 from beyond the arc, and from video I watched it didnt seem like distance shooting was his forte.

But hes not coming, so its a moot point anyway.

Blythewood (SC) F Robert Braswell, who our staff visited earlier this year, committed to Syracuse today.

Not sure if we offered him. Braswell is a bouncy 6-9 with 3-point range so it was a mystery why he went into May of his senior year unsigned.

Noelle Saine signed her Letter of Intent to run for George Mason University Track and Cross Country teams.

She is soooo happy to be a Patriot. She's wanted to run for Mason for a very long time.

In fact, I'll bet she's attended more basketball games and tournaments than most of the people here.
