There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. A place where 2 star under-the-radar recruits come to play. They are forced to play heavy minutes as underclassmen and develop slowly under a Dave Paulsen. A place where once the player is groomed they transfer or once they fail, they are forced out. Between the past and the future, between sanity and madness, between dreams and reality, we see players groomed but never held. That's the signpost up ahead - your next stop, the Twilight Zone Defense.

I don't think Kier is looking at transferring due to unhappiness with DP, to make the dance, etc.

I think this move is about making a career out of basketball. He needs to surround himself with well connected people that can help him along in his career, sooner rather than later. Kier can give himself more options in life by transferring. If he goes, then I am thankful for his time here and wish him the best. He faces a reality after graduation like few others.

I would agree except Mason has many alumni playing professionally and making very good salaries all over the planet.

There is no reason whatsoever Kier or any of our other guys would need to leave to further their professional ambitions.

He’s clearly looking for something he doesn’t think he can get here, and the most obvious choice is the experience of playing in a high-level league and qualifying for the NCAA tournament.

If Troy Tenara can have a pro career then Kier will certainly have no problem doing the same no
matter were he plays in college next year.

Playing for DP is not the same on a resume as playing for a legendary coach. I'm talking about opportunities outside of just playing basketball.

He should go get a year under someone like Tony Bennett if he can. That might help get his foot in a coaching door someday after he's done playing oversees, if that's his plan.

Even with how they smacked us last season, TCU is not some giant step up on the college basketball ladder. They weren’t going to make the dance any more than we were. They’re basically irrelevant in the Big 12.

If Kier’s best opportunity is to be the fourth option on a meh P5 team, he’s far better off being option 1B at Mason.

I don't disagree in what you are saying about TCU. However, the level of competition in the Big 12 is a lot better than the A10 right now. Naturally, the Big 12 is going to get a lot more exposure day in day out than we do. I have no idea what is going on in Kier's head but there are three options that I see. He transfers to JMU to be closer to home, stays at Mason, or he leaves for a P5 school where he will face tougher competition and get more exposure. IMO I think he goes to either UMD or Tech. I would have said UVA but they have too many guards

Tech has a ton of guards too. Don’t see that as a fit at all.

I have no idea what the f-ck this means, but damn if it's not beautifully written. Bravo!

What “legendary” coach are you referring to?
None in particular. I just think very highly of Kier and think he could get on with somebody of stature if he wanted. Even if he wasn't the best fit on the court, every team could use a guy like Justin in the locker room. He's got a ringing endorsement from our staff.

Kier is just as good if not better than some of the A10 kids that Grad Transferred over to Louisville last couple of years. No doubt he can be a great piece for someone that is highly ranked and tournament bound. If he gets a little lift on his shot he may even be able to start.

So now because he’s leaving, Kier gets the @sleeperpick stamp of approval. But you and others consistently refused to acknowledge that his injury had a significantly adverse impact on our team’s performance last season.

You spent most of the past 3 months saying he probably was never going to be the same again because of his foot, and insisting that nobody use his absence as an excuse for our sucky coach.

Now he can be a “great piece for a tournament-bound team?”

Which is it? You don’t get to have it both ways.

I'm curious to see what type of interest Kier receives from the P5.

Several questions arise regarding Kier:

How healthy is JK and is his foot fully healed? As SP constantly noted, there is a question if JK can play at his pre-injury level.

Is a P5 coach willing to take the chance and give him a scholarship over a potentially comparable player who is not coming off of season-ending foot surgery?

Wish he'd stay at GMU. GMU needs him more than a P5. Last time a Mason guard transferred to a P5, his season ended with a pandemic. Rumors persist that that transfer indeed led to the pandemic. I'm a big Justin Kier fan - hope he keeps this in mind.

It's a short committment and a short-term "risk". May be an opportunity for someone to "save" a scholarship for next year.
