It's more than just men's basketball performance. The relative health of the majority of our sports is poor.
He failed to secure funding for a practice facility even after Barnes and Noble pledged 1 million to the project.
He has failed to secure funding for the baseball stadium upgrade and that plan is languishing.
He failed to secure private funding for a new stadium roof/scoreboard/PA system, despite the Patriot Center being such a busy and important venue to northern virginia and now we are at the mercy of the Virginia state legislator to approve the project (maybe when part if it collapses during a Maroon 5 concert crushing 20 screaming teen girls will they approve the funding).
The overall marketing and communications strategy across the entire athletic department is poor.
Etc, etc, etc.
We need a new vision and new ideas. And I'm not one who disagrees with the overall philosophy behind some of the decisions we've made regarding facilities either. I think if the AD were smart they could play that message up, instead we get "the side door" comment.
Thanks Gemini, your post really puts it all into perspective.
It's been one failure after another.
But we're just supposed to close our eyes and pretend TOC's record isn't as poopy as it is because he used cronyism to get us into the dance in 2006?
