Frankly I agree, TOC and Hewitt should get the boot. When you have an AD who makes a questionable hire, and then refuses to fix it when the situation is blatantly honest in order to either save face, or his ego or whatever it is...he doesnt have the strength or seperation outlook to do the job anymore. Its a business and its very competitive, and if you dont have the ability to man up and admit your mistake and fix it...you will fade away each year and you will ultimately fail....as you see whats going on here.

TOC has been here an eternity, I dont doubt he wants to do well....but its time for a shakeup with him, Hewitt and frankly all the old cronies in the AD. We need to utilize young, upcoming and hungry players....and match that with the coach and the AD. One that isnt content, one that wants to make it to the next level as opposed to just sitting in neutral for as long as possible.

LOL. TOC should be fired for making it questionable hire and not fixing it mid-year season three of a five year contract.

Yeah, that seems realistic.

Time to revisit the zone who we should have hired thread for all those James Johnson/Bill Courtney people.

K vancz hired Nestor and Westhead and still managed to get the GW gig for more money. You people have no idea what TOC's good rep has done for this program-we may not get 2006 or the A 10 without it.

After the year is when Im looking for some changes. Though frankly, Im not sure things could really be all that worse off if he were to let Hewitt go midsesason.

Whats more reasonable, allowing a problem to fester and get worse for 2 more years, when half way through the writing was on the wall? Or jumping on it and trying to right the ship? No doubt TOC has done good things for us, but its a what have you done for me lately kind of atmosphere.....2006 is long long gone and his hire of Hewitt and the ensuing train wreck is now. You really are only as good as your last hire.......

If we had hired either Johnson or Courtney then we could have fired them easier because they wouldn't have been paid what Hewitt is making getting. So, yeah, either one would have been a better hire. They couldn't have done any worse.

Hey I still wouldn't mind hiring Courtney. ..but I just hate the constant overreaction how TOC should be canned for hiring Hewitt. Like it or not it was a defensible hire.

Just sick of the people that obviously STILL have a bone to pick over Larranaga. Gave the guy three raises in under five years and offered a fourth,, and its still TOC's fault for "letting" him go.

You keep saying it was "defensible" but I don't think that word means what you think it means. He sucked at Ga Tech. How was it defensible?

It has nothing to do with Coach L and how that went down. Coach L hasnt been here for 3 years, and hes gone. It has to do with the hiring, where that has gotten us, how we are playing now and how long TOC has been here.

Sometimes its just time for a chance of scenery to freshen things up and bring in a new pair eyes and ideas.

So, because GW hired an AD with a bad track record for hiring -- and eventually had to put him out to pasture for bad hires that ran both their men's and women's programs into the ground -- that means we should hang on to TOC? If anything, it suggests that you shouldn't allow a guy who hasn't made a good basketball hiring decision since the 90s to continue to do so.

Chris, no offense, but you're the only one talking about Larranaga right now.

The vast majority of us are more concerned about how lousy our current coach is.

And whether or not hiring Hewitt was "defensible," which would certainly be in the eye of the beholder, I'm not sure how that matters at this point. What's done is done.

It's as obvious as the nose on my face that the guy sucks. The only question is how long it's going to take the administration to do something about it.

I just texted back and forth with a source I believe is in the know. The source simply believes that a change will only occur if TOC gets the boot along with Hewitt.

Nice, back to the ole "sources" dropping "in the know" tidbits.

How far weve fallen...Now we for sure have to fire everybody.

I don't doubt it. 30 months after busting out the PowerPoint charts and pitching El Presidente on why he needs to pay Hewitt a salary (and on essentially a guaranteed contract, no less) that's well beyond anyone else on campus, it's a little tough to tuck your tail between your legs and tell him that you botched it.

Then El Presidente it is time DO YOUR JOB. You can even Tweet TOC that he is fired. I don't care how you do it, just do it now. Oh, and the bigger job is hiring the right guy. But that is what you get paid the big bucks for.

It's more than just men's basketball performance. The relative health of the majority of our sports is poor.

He failed to secure funding for a practice facility even after Barnes and Noble pledged 1 million to the project.

He has failed to secure funding for the baseball stadium upgrade and that plan is languishing.

He failed to secure private funding for a new stadium roof/scoreboard/PA system, despite the Patriot Center being such a busy and important venue to northern virginia and now we are at the mercy of the Virginia state legislator to approve the project (maybe when part if it collapses during a Maroon 5 concert crushing 20 screaming teen girls will they approve the funding).

The overall marketing and communications strategy across the entire athletic department is poor.

Etc, etc, etc.

We need a new vision and new ideas. And I'm not one who disagrees with the overall philosophy behind some of the decisions we've made regarding facilities either. I think if the AD were smart they could play that message up, instead we get "the side door" comment.

we all know how they feel. They've quit on him. Look at Arledge. Look at Hancock. Look at all of the players the past 3 years. everyone is checked out.
