OK, I have had my fun on the other threads. GSII was paying me to take over for him while he was off (just kidding). I am going to let the rest of the season speak for Hewitt's performance, starting with tomorrow night. If I feel the need to talk about it further, I'll keep the Hewitt stuff to this thread.

I root against his team, but Larranaga has his young team playing with poise and confidence in the ACC. Meanwhile, we get to hear ODU's announcers talk about how veteran Mason players look like deer in headlights. Against their team with an RPI ranking of 260 nonetheless.

OCM needs time to get his guys in place. Nobody should expect mental toughness, execution, poise& confidence from a group of players you just met a few months ago.

His new players already are playing with poise. Did you catch their win at UNC tonight? They were very close to winning at 'Cuse too. Our veterans aren't after 2 1/2 seasons of Hewitt.

JimP, I watched the whole game. What a masterful display of a well coached team. OCM gets Roy again.

Not surprising. While a greedy prick, the guy obviously is also one helluva basketball coach.

Unfortunately, the only two people on the planet who didn't get it were the only two people who mattered.

Greedy? Meh, get whats yours while you can. But like you said, the 2 people who had all the say in the world wanted to roll the dice....and they got burned like Chevy Chase did by Marty the Blackjack dealer in Vegas Vacation.

I only say greedy because Merten and TOC had consistently shown a willingness to re-do his contract after the FF, and yet, instead of waiting for them to finish off another (big) raise, he threw a temper tantrum and left.

I don't begrudge anyone getting what they can get -- and obviously the guy has validated his decision by doing a great job in Miami -- but he was going to get paid big-time here if he had just been a little patient.

Oh well, water under the bridge....

I know its not in his personality to do so, but itd be nice for Hewitt to "tougher" comments..hes just so passive . Its always "I think" or "Its fixable"

Not that it would improve his coaching, but itd be nice for him to at least take a "harder" stance in his comments.

Bottom line is every team plays like they practice. And we obviously don't practice very well. Unless he's changed his approach in practice, or the players find a way to get pumped on their own...there's little reason to believe anything will change. We can think all we want.

As much as I hate to hear it....I am kind of glad it happened.

Otherwise TOC et al...would just sit back and enjoy getting their paychecks without some heat.

The administration needs to be prodded a bit and understand folks arent happy.

I was actually glad TOC was there tonight, he was sitting 2 rows up from half court and I hope he got all sorts of excitement and contentment of watching his start child and the horrible product he puts out there.
