The Paul Hewitt Thread

I am reluctantly going to watch Mason get pasted by vcu . score may 'be 92 to 48. and since I wasted money on the great Saturday plan I will attend the St Joe game solely for the purpose of booing the hell out of O' Hewitt. The guy is cruising, he could care less, and the player know it. My guess is practice involves the same ole bullshit drills he uses all the time. Hey coach, have you ever heard this, If you continue to do what you've always done you'll always get what you' ve always got. In this case a losing record. I say for those who attend let him know how we feel. Same for TOC, that's if he even attends.

Since we will probably lose 20 plus games this year, my guess is next year will be worse. No season tickets from this dude.

Had a crazy thought today.

We'll be better next year.

I have a ton of respect for sherrod, but we will really only miss bryon Allen next year. We'll have an excellent scorer in PH, guys like Marlo and Jenkins who will hopefully consistently add 8-10, Moore who will not be a Frosh anymore, and some wild cards in incoming freshman, gray, copes, and the red shirt who's name escapes me right now.

These are some great pieces which Hewitt will be able to sell to TOC and why I know he will be here at least through next season.

I also believe we have a ton of talent next year as well, and it's up to PH and staff to bring it together

I think the most telling thing from the fundraising dinner tonight was Hewitt's statement (and I am doing my best job to get the wording correct): that the team is coming together, playing well and he is happy with the progress they have made.

Errrr... maybe in some crazy 'think outside the box' way Hewitt HAS been using the OOC portion to tinker with things and is going to unleash his perfected plans starting Thursday agasint vcu?!

OR

That his own personal expectations of the season were so low that being 7-7 right now is technically evidence 'that the team is coming together, playing well and[the reason why] he is happy with the progress they have made.'

:frustration:

Protip: Typically you want the team to come together before the season starts, not halfway through.

When your goal is an NCAA/NIT bid, you can't really afford to have the OOC be a chemistry lab. Especially with a bunch of guys who are seniors.
I mean, when I coached I would do things like not press weaker teams because I wanted to work on our halfcourt offense and defense, maybe there's the slightest chance there was some of that mentality with American, St. Peter's and Penn?
Uh, no. We just suck.

Well that's the gist of what he said but gmub got the quote wrong.

I however have actual video of the speech.

Yikes. How did the team look in practice? Anything else of note from the evening that you can share?

If true, then it should be confirmed with a competitive game on Thursday night.

I heard Insiders were allowed to participate in practice, and word has it that even gmubrian was able to score at will on our defense. An NCAA precent was set when Copes was reportedly the first player ever to foul out of a practice.

Did he make the O face after every foul?

Did VG score at will in practice as we have been led to believe?
I would not say he scores at will but he scored more than any other person on the floor and he was playing against the A team.

The sad part is everyone reading this can envision 40-50 year old alums catching the ball on the low block, showing Copes the ball, and then Copes flying over their back while fuiously swatting the s out of the ball and the guy's arm.

We need a Copes emoticon.
