The #1 Pep Band in College Basketball

Yes, 100% agree with this. The fight song should be the last thing.

Or going in to halftime. Whatever, just not before the game. I'd even settle for during t-shirt timeouts, even though I still think that is overkill. If we had an iconic fight song like USC or Michigan that would be one thing, but we don't.

Our fight song has way too many syllables jammed together. It almost impossible to sing/chant correctly, even if you wanted to, which is why we display the words.

It's also not slow enough to sing at the end of games like other schools do in a grand kumbaya moment (which I think is kinda cool and classy). It's just an odd in between that was put together because we needed something to go with tune we already had.

I'm sure Doc can come up with something else if He could start from scratch and there is a direction or goal behind it (hype or classic end of game).

The "grand kumbaya moment" you refer to is NOT when fight songs are played, regardless of the schools. You're confusing them with alma maters which typically are slower, in contrast to fight songs.

Doc had the Green Machine in rare form, and that's saying a lot! We really are spoiled. Other college bands are just horrible. The only one that was even in the same planet as us was vcu back in the day. Now they have fallen off. I guess JMU is the next best, if you consider that an actual university.
The Towson band (when you could locate them) was the clear #3 in the CAA, I thought.

Side note, the Penn band was pretty bad.

You're right. Thanks for the correction.

This is something else we could easily do. I've only heard the alma mater once, at graduation when the remake by Doc debuted. I thought it was good and wouldn't mind hearing it more and it would cut down on the number of times our fight song gets played at games.

Our fight song music is pretty much a combination of several other university fight songs. It's not super original.

Plus the lyrics are whack. "Proud for the world to seeeeeeee!!!!" hahaha

Yea, to be honest, our fight song is pretty atrocious. It could use a re-do.

I know I will get crap for asking this, but I have no idea. Do any of the band members receive scholarships?

My guess would be they get a music scholarship to study at Mason and then just opt to ply for the green machine? But I have no idea if the green machine has scholarships

The Green Machine does have scholarships. They're mainly funded through Admissions, but they exist. I'd imagine that around 45 people get them, in some manner

Green Machine does offer scholarships (funded by Admissions) -- but keep your expectations low -- we're talking book money -- not anything close to full tuition.
