While I do think ISIS is an expression of Islam, it is totally possible as well that Islam and the Quran can be used to answer and defeat ISIS, or groups like ISIS.

Seems relevant per our discussion:

''However, writers like Qureshi will continue to claim Islam to be an inherently violent religion. This is what people want to hear. They want an easy answer. They want to hear that Islam is evil. Saying that the Qur’an is the real culprit of Belgian terror attacks would be the same as saying that the Bible is the real culprit behind the Spanish Inquisition. Both of these statements are false. The Qur’an in reality is the solution to stopping ISIS. A lack of education and furthering the deep knowledge of the Qur’an is the real culprit.''

And everybody who has shot up school buildings and murdered first graders and blew up OKC were Muslims, too. Oh, wait...

Difference between crime and religious motivated violence that happens with such a level of frequency that it begs the questions raised in this thead.

There is a theory among certain groups that Newton never happened.

There is a theory among certain groups that 9-11 was planned by the CIA or that President Bush was somewhat complicit. In fact, a poll by Scripps Howard found that half of all democrats at one point believed this.

If you want to go off on rock-throwing tangents, might want to step off the porch of your glass house to do so first.

As for Islam being evil at its root, Christian theology as outlined in the Bible dictates that this is so.

Christian theology follows that Christ is the Messiah; the only begotten son of God and through him the only path to Heaven. While some debate whether this is accomplished through good deeds and a holy lifestyle or whether it is accomplished through grace and asking for forgiveness, what is not in contention is that false prophets who claim to be God's actual representative instead are evil and destined for Hell.

So yes, as a Christian, I will say that Islam is a false religion and at its base an evil one. This is not to be confused with the contention that all Muslims are themselves evil.

I'm Catholic, so I'll be straight up chilling in heaven with my man JC. While you heathens and losers spend eternity in pain and suffering, I'm gonna be roasting marshmallows around the eternal flame while Jesus tells the funniest jokes about Peter, the Holy Spirit teaches me things no mortal will ever understand, and God the father plays the best game of backyard catch with me. So f**k all of you.

I will be in awesome company in hell then with atheists, agnostics, Jews, Muslims, Hindus!

Or saved because Universalism is a thing.

Jews will probably be in heaven - they are the chosen people and will get a shot to make it in. Hindus - they are pagans - so they are shit out of luck. Muslims - it depends on HOW they get to the afterlife. If they took the carbomb/bomb-vest express - they might not be seeing any virgins. If they get there otherwise - then maybe.

Atheists - they are nowhere - they don't believe in the afterlife.

So theologically speaking, if you wanted to avoid eternity anywhere, and were comfortable with the annihilation of the soul, atheism is the best bet.

Sounds good to me because the idea of being in eternity anywhere doesn't sound enjoyable.

I think you've inadvertently hit on one of the mistakes in the "corporate" Church, its underselling of Heaven as eternal existence in a sterile staid environment.

What Heaven actually is a place of eternal joy. The Apostle Paul tells us in the Bible that it's beyond our human comprehension to fully understand, but that it is three things:
1. It's incorruptible. No decay or death occurs in Heaven.
2. It's undefiled. No sin or the stain of sin and all its accompanying baggage such as guilt, regret, loathing, etc. exist.
3. It's unfading. It is perpetually refreshing, new and invigorating.

Try to send us a signal of your location so we can have the police show up and arrest the guy holding the gun to your head making you read it.
