I don't believe in god, heaven or hell--but it's of course possible a higher power, deity, does exist. I would probably wager though that if a deity does exist, it has no actual reflection to the religions recorded in human history.

Funny how people seem to know so much about Heaven and Hell without ever having been there or having seen any scientific proof of it. They are all so lucky that their religion (likely the same as their parents) happened to be the right one!

That's the concept of Heaven through your own good works. Their are sects of Christians who believe that, but most believe in the concept of Grace. That all of deserve Hell and by the law the God set down we are destined for Hell, but because God loves all of us (Christians, atheists, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, etc.) so much, he sent Christ to Earth as the sacrificial lamb to pay the price for our sin so we could be set free from Hell.
