I’m tired of making excuses, win please.

But they have been winning in the conference:

2013-14: 5-12
2014-15: 4-14
2015-16: 5-13
2016-17: 9-9
2017-18: 9-9
2018-19: 11-7

The last three years only three other A-10 teams were .500 or better in conference through that span.

I feel like you just want them to become vcu overnight and that's never going to happen under stop gap coach like Paulsen. But they are winning at a more consistent basis in the A-10 then before. Maybe it's not enough for Brad, I don't know, I mean they keep extending him. I want non-conference wins also but this situation is hardly the disaster you are painting.

you're seriously asking why he isn't playing for GMU this year?!? are you going to ask the same thing when AJ takes his grad year somewhere else next year?! It is pretty simple if you are actually asking. I cannot tell if you are invoking sarcasm

Transferring as a fifth year grad student and pretending to have a nagging injury midway through the season so you can recoup another year to ditch the program are two different things.

what is our record against A10 teams that finish above .500 for the past 3 years?

I don't know what to tell you other than the fact that I know Jaire Grayer was hurt. Yes, his dad hated Paulsen. Yes, Paulsen cut his minutes. Yes, Paulsen played the kid out of position for 3 years... But the kid was hurt and I don't blame him for taking an extra year to play his senior season healthy. He was hobbled. Could barely cut or jump last two years.. I guess he just lost his athleticism overnight from FR and SO seasons? I hope he kills it at TCU this year and Jamie Dixon plays him in a position for him and the team to succeed.

I get these conspiracy theories some of you are putting up regarding him... Some of them actually make sense....But watch some tape from 18-19 year old Jaire to the last two years.. It is almost impossible he wasn't hurt....

Also crazy the amount of medical professionals we have on these boards that talk about how his ankle should have been in a cast or something for you to believe he was actually injured. Where did you get your degrees from Dr's?

He scored 25 points in the first half at Georgia Southern ... certainly didn’t look hurt then.

And you say he was hurt, then in the same breath bash the coach for limiting his minutes? Make up your mind already.

You don't find it interesting that he became too hurt to play just when he reached the maximum number of games he could play and still get a medical redshirt?

Many of our players played last season hurt or with nagging injuries. Was Grayer 100%? Probably not. Most guys aren't (for as much crap Reuter got last year, at least he tried to play through his injuries). Grayer decided not to. Pretty simple.

The Grayer family knew exactly what they were doing.

Even after the big blowup in Florida,

The whole situation was sketchy as hell.

What happened in Florida? I'm not familiar enough with the situation, but it sounds like Grayed played his cards right. TCU is a big upgrade.

Reuter had 24 vs NCCentral.. and looked like a decent center against Baylor in Florida.. anomalies happen

It sounds like they knew exactly what they were doing. The Grayer family views basketball as a business, nothing wrong with that.

I wouldn't have played thru injury for a coach that constantly puts me in bad situations anymore either.

Two things can be true.. Grayer was actually hurt (I know for a fact for this to be true) and Grayer transferred before his last eligibility was over in order to get another year (Definitely true). It doesn't have to be either or.

We give credit to Reuter and Otis and Goanar for playing thru injuries. Maybe Grayer saw the writing on the wall and became a little selfish (in a good way to me) and thought about his future rather than playing at 50% for a coach that he no longer wanted to play for. Is that so bad that we need to bash this kid and his parents for sticking up for him?

How is this the same? Reuter wasn't supposedly injured then
DR Gunny just said he was injured last year and played thru it two posts up. He certainly had to be injured last year as the dude could barely run without looking like he was going to keel over and die

I think he might have been hurt, but I don't think he was injured.

Hurt, not hurt, gamed the system, didn't like Paulsen or playing time...whatever. Relationships go bad.

Grayer and & Co. decides what's best for him.

I can see regardless of the Paulsen relationship, that if playing the rest of the year half hurt was not how he wanted to finish his college career....then he had every right to close up shop, heal up and get one last good year somewhere else. You only get one go around.....make the most of it.

Weren't there rumors of Grayer looking at transferring in spring before his senior season? Seems like this was always in the back of his mind. I don't begrudge kids looking for a better opportunity but shit or get off the pot.....quiting mid season really set this team back last year.

He had every right to do what he did. I don't think anyone is saying otherwise.

This whole argument came about because of the comment "quit on his team". It is possible that while looking out for his best interest and putting himself first, he did let his team down. Doesn't make him a bad person, maybe a bad teammate... but at the end he put himself first and the team second. Some are okay with that, some aren't as much.

I think Dave is trying to build a program with solid character guys who put the team first (which is hard to do). The staff can't be worried about an individual over the team, and sometimes that does against the player or their family's wants/needs.

Grayer and family were concerned with #5 first. It just wasn't a good mix.

Rumors of Reuter being good and a game changer. We can't always trust rumors

You do understand the concept of “best laid plans,” right?

Almost nothing went as expected last year. Guys we were counting on got hurt. One guy literally quit on the team. Our senior leader struggled for most of the season.

Shit happens. Not sure why you seem so obsessed with blaming the coach for things far beyond his control, but here we are.
Dude its been 5 years he is right!!! Dave is a nice guy but who can honestly tell me they are excited for the season???
