Offseason A10 Recruiting/Transfer Thread

I don't think there really is a deadline. If a prospect wants to transfer/enroll somewhere and they have the time (even a few days) to get them through any paperwork they can enroll. I'm sure recruits have decided a week before school starts in August in some cases.

Assuming they signed their NLI's already, my understanding is that the releases will have to be granted by the school, but typically always are when there is a coaching change. So the "deadline" will be whatever amount of time the school permits them to meet the new coach and make a decision. Would imagine it would be sooner than later though.

If they are just verbal commits, then there is less of a definitive deadline and URI is in more limbo unless they decide to pull the offers and go in different directions (if they believe the players are not going to sign).

Big loss, but Gilyard showed some stuff last year and I think their starting five will be fine.

I mean Fore couldn't shoot but he was their best defender by far and played 32+ per game. Gilyard and Buckigham are both great though

Most of URI's recruits have said they are staying committed to the program, I don't believe Adams has made any comment. Even with the kids making that statement the school hasn't made an official coaching announcement. If the recruits don't like the new hire they can still back out. Their boards believe the announcement is coming today, most are hoping their assistant Cox gets promoted and if that is the case they believe all the recruits will stay. They are afraid if the school reaches outside of the program for a new coach then most will leave.

Smart move.

A couple of the recruits who said they're definitely staying also walked it back a little bit and said they're staying for Coach Cox. Good chance they keep 3/4 or 4/4 if Cox is the guy, and good chance 2 or more leave if Rhody goes in a different direction.

Also, credit to Rhody for conducting a very under-wraps coaching search. There's been almost nothing on it, aside from the Pitino story, which smells like bullshit.

URI issued a statement saying no conversations with Pitino ever took place, nor was he ever mentioned or discussed within the AD. Article was completely made up.

GIVING DAY 2023
Its good to see Mason looking at some potential transfers.

Also, Brendan Adams wants out of URI with them hiring David Cox officially. I suspect he'll be trying to go to Uconn.

Apparently Ryan Daly's grandfather was a coach for St. Joes. Are Jon Larranaga's kids any good at basketball?

Nice to see Richmond hosting Westfield HS' Blake Francis for a visit. Scored 17 a game for Wagner, looking to transfer.

College of Charleston and Towson also in the mix.
