GIVING DAY 2023
With all the work they have done to EBA over the last few years and now this years locker room renovation, I don't think we'll see a new arena for Mason basketball in most of our lifetimes. I just wish they would replace those awful hard plastic seats and figure out how to expand the gold room and I'd be good with that.
Maybe if they can get some tournament money they will reinvest it.

Even a Final Four run would only pay for like 1/20th of a new place.

A new arena would most likely come from a capital investment fund (or a bond issuance).

We also spent $20 million on the Patriot Center after the first final four and that didn’t get us a whole lot. So one could imagine what a real renovation (or new construction) would cost.

Oh yeah I’m not saying that’s what the money would be used for. I’m just pointing out that even if it was, it wouldn’t come close.

I wasn’t at Mason yet for the renovation but someone said it made a notable difference.

It made a huge difference. The arena...especially the main concourse...was really showing its age. Bumping out the main entrance and building the ticket office really helped.

Added concession space and renovated the bathrooms too, which needed it. It did make a difference, but a full renovation is going to be a lot lot more. So would a new arena.

Tournament money would most likely go towards more charter flights and a bigger recruiting budget.

Big loss for Richmond, they are actually one of the teams I'm most scared about next year.
THey are trying to get Grant Golden's (115's enemy) little brother who recently decommitted from Pitt. He is a lot better than his brother... Hope not

I guess that's good for Mason? But the A10 as a whole seems to be shaping up for one of the worse years in quite a while.

Preseason coaches poll will be interesting to see this fall.
I hear ya, but I think UMASS, St Louis, Duquesne and Mason should be very much improved.... Real question is who Rhode Island hires and if top guys like Dowtin, Lavengine and Fats Russell stay. Rhody also has a great incoming class and they have all said they are still coming on Twitter. so we shall see

WOW, did not expect that. Their recruiting class was ranked I think top 30.

That changes everything I was thinking. What is the deadline for them to let the school know officially?

I think Summer enrollment for classes but that is just a wild guess

I don't think there really is a deadline. If a prospect wants to transfer/enroll somewhere and they have the time (even a few days) to get them through any paperwork they can enroll. I'm sure recruits have decided a week before school starts in August in some cases.

Big loss, but Gilyard showed some stuff last year and I think their starting five will be fine.
