Preferred Walk-On
Do we know the status of the assistants?
I would highly doubt any would be retained by a new coach, with maybe the exception of J2 or Moynihan

I like the fact that he interviewed over a dozen candidates. Thorough. And yes - the fact that we haven't seen a lot of players jump - then he might be communicating with them on a regular basis.
I am assuming since Hewitt was removed from the roster and the assistants are still on it, that they are still employed by Mason. I would guess that would be the case, at least, until the new coach comes on board.I was referring to their current status. I assume that they are still under contract at Mason.

If they're not already unemployed, they will be soon.
While I agree, I recall Paul Westhead's assistant Michael Cooney being briefly retained on Jim Larranaga's staff.
Totally agree with this. A very nice guy too. As I believe he is the last assistant still at mason I hope he is at least considered to be kept on. Perhaps Hewitt and the other coaches wanted him as the holdover guy because of a strong relationship with the current players, he may be an asset in order to prevent any transfers? If the new coach opts to keep Kreider on staff, more power to him.
Kreider has a reputation as a good young coach and recruiter. He just made the mistake of hitching his wagon to a broken-down mule.
Preview of Bob Mo vs. Duke from CBSsports with Mason coaching search reference:
No. 16 Robert Morris vs. No. 1 Duke (-22.5); 7:10 ET, CBS: Maybe Lucky Jones can live up to his name and give the Colonials some luck in this matchup, because they're going to need all they can get. There's just no one on this team to guard Jahlil Okafor, and that's going to be a major problem. But still, how about the great job that Andy Toole has done at Robert Morris? He has taken the school to three straight postseasons, and has never finished lower than third in the NEC. Both Fordham and George Mason should be giving him a call around 10 p.m. ET on Friday when his season ends in order to have a discussion with him about filling their vacancies. But for this game? Probably not much he can do to get the Colonials in the game.

Not a fan of whinny sideline coaches like Hurley
Knowing people who work at the patriot center I can confirm Krieder is said to be staying until the new coach is brought in.I'm sure the assistants are gone. Very rarely do assistants stay at a school. While they technically work for the school, they really work for the head coach. Of course, there are exceptions, but by and large the assistants are gone.
