GIVING DAY 2023
The stages, popularly known by the acronym DABDA, include:

  1. Denial — One of the first reactions is Denial, wherein the survivor imagines a false, preferable reality.
  2. Anger — When the individual recognizes that denial cannot continue, it becomes frustrated, especially at proximate individuals. Certain psychological responses of a person undergoing this phase would be: "Why me? It's not fair!"; "How can this happen to me?"; '"Who is to blame?"; "Why would God let this happen?".
  3. Bargaining — The third stage involves the hope that the individual can avoid a cause of grief. Usually, the negotiation for an extended life is made with a higher power in exchange for a reformed lifestyle. Other times, they will use anything valuable against another human agency to extend or prolong the life. People facing less serious trauma can bargain or seek compromise.
  4. Depression — "I'm so sad, why bother with anything?"; "I'm going to die soon so what's the point?"; "I miss my loved one, why go on?"
During the fourth stage, the individual becomes saddened by the certainty of death. In this state, the individual may become silent, refuse visitors and spend much of the time mournful and sullen.
  5. Acceptance — "It's going to be okay."; "I can't fight it, I may as well prepare for it."
In this last stage, individuals embrace mortality or inevitable future, or that of a loved one, or other tragic event. People dying may precede the survivors in this state, which typically comes with a calm, retrospective view for the individual, and a stable condition of emotions.

I'll put this here for reference should the day turn to shit.

EDIT: Looks like it is not needed for Hewitt. However, it'll remain until the announcement of the new coach. :)

Anyone willing to put up a new thread with possible replacements?

The way I see it - you have three groups we can choose from. The retreads, like Howland and Grant. The young head coaches, like Cherry and Toole. And the current BCS assistants, like McCay at UVA and Autry at Syracuse.

I could get behind Jay just hope my emotions are not overcoming my intellect. We must get it right with this choice. With the talent we have on hand and coming in we could be back to good fairly quick.

Ditto. The good thing about Jay is....he has been a head coach and 2 NBA teams have seriously considered him worthy of leading mutli-multi million dollar franchises. He's not some assistant trying to see if he can learn to be a head coach.

However, it is quite a drop to go from being in the NBA circles to drop to Mason...

I would agree - but the relationship with the University is there - his dad raised the program up - if he could to he would own this place. I bet he recognizes the difference that Cabrera and Edwards makes versus TOC and Merten. Sweet Geezus the money would rain in if Jay L came to town.

Note that these are rumors:

http://www.midmajormadness.com/2015/3/16/8223277/coaching-rumors:

"George Mason Patriots
Anthony Grant seems to be a theme here and his name has already been rumored for a return to the Commonwealth. Grant would instantly reinvigorate the rivalry with vcu and obviously could put together a staff that knows the area well.

He's the newest name in the mix and there are plenty of other names popping up. Boston Celtics assistant Jay Larranaga has been tossed around since January when his representatives saw the writing on the wall of his dad's former school. Other names being considered are former assistants at Mason including High Point's Scott Cherry and current Miami assistants Chris Caputo and Michael Huger."

Why not Eric Konkol?

Oh Yea. I can hear it now; L A R A N E G A!! Yes we should consider other candidates, but if Jay has his heart and mind ready to make this switch from the NBA, than bring him on. Finally someone who understands you win with DEFENSE first.

I automatically come back to the program and support GMU.

Brad Edwards, thank you for standing up and doing the right thing. Yes, the basketball program means a lot to the University. Lets get back to our winning tradition.
