He's had tough luck when it comes to getting to the tourney, but I'd take a look at Stony Brook's Steve Pikiell. Great job rebuilding SB - (not that they were all that built up in the first place) Doesn't necessarily matter but I learned while watching the AE championship the other day that he was a co captain of the UCONN team that Laettner beat in '92.

Sucks to be a Yellow Jacket. Brian Gregory is expected to return to Georgia Tech next year. Mainly because GT still owes PH 3.6M and a Gregory buyout would have been an additional 2.4M. I really hope Mason doesn't emulate GT. It just shows how crucial this new hire will be.

The way I heard it, Jay called Jon during one of the games in Dayton with a suggestion and Jon wouldn't relay the message during the game.

If Edwards has been talking seriously with Howland about our job behind the scenes, it means one of two things:

1. Howland wants to coach so badly that he's willing to give us a discount.

2. Those "suits" people saw B-Cubed schmoozing during games have decided to come across with enough cheddar to hire a guy who was making $2 million/yr. at UCLA.

Either way, I want the guy. He's one hell of a basketball coach. Assuming all players stay, we immediately become at least a mid-pack A10 team with Howland on the sideline.

From what I've been told, Edwards already has a handshake deal in place with our next coach.

If it's Howland, that would make sense. Edwards certainly wouldn't want to wait until the end of the season and have to compete with other schools who also are firing their coaches.

At this point, I just hope it's not Darrin Horn, Bobby Gonzalez or Seth Greenberg.

The ink was dry when we had Roy Williams as head coach for a day some years ago. Just sayin'...

If the term "significant hire" came from Big Brad then I'm looking far beyond Cherry, Caputo, YCM, and Anthony Grant. Brad strikes me as an aggressive beast in terms of his drive for success at Mason.
