Ian Boyd commits to Mason

I get the "follow Mason recruits" logic to Twitter, etc., but am I wrong to say it's at least a little creepy to be viewing and posting pics of our recruits with underage girls and posts filled with emoji's?
It's only creepy if you can accurately interpret the emoji-coded phrase.

He looks like a celebrity at a fan convention. "That'll be $10. Next!"

Sorry, I know nothing about emoji's.

I went and saw Boyd play tonight against the top team in his conference. He is probably a shade taller that 6'2, built like Folarin Campbell, but is an explosive athlete. He did well around the basket but didn't show too much during the game from the outside. Not sure if he is still rounding into basketball shape after playing football or what. He was hitting a good amount of 3s in warm ups and had a nice looking shot. Boyd also didn't show much court vision and rarely passed on offense. I was hoping to see more from him on defense. He struggled to contain Cory Gensler, who is probably a mid to low D1 recruit.

STORY: Ian Boyd scores 28 points as @ApexBasketball defeats Green Hope, 69-60 - http://www.highschoolot.com/boyd-apex-take-down-green-hope-in-swac-basketball/15179866/…

"Through the Cougars' first nine games of the year, Boyd is averaging more than 26 points and eight rebounds, leading Apex in both statistical categories."

"He's just a warrior, and he does it all for us," said Apex head coach David Neal. "His versatility is just like nothing I've ever seen in a high school player. He can guard any position; he can play point guard for us or he can play center for us. And he's been doing it for four years."

"With a minute left in the game, Boyd added an exclamation point with a big block that led to a fast break in which Molden threw the ball off the backboard to set up an electric Boyd dunk."

Apex’s Ian Boyd (32) shoots over Panther Creek's Juan Munoz (40) during the boys basketball game, which was played on Thursday, December 17, 2015 in Cary. Christine Adamczyk newsobserver.com

Apex’s Ian Boyd and Samantha Michel turned in performances worthy of the TV cameras that were on hand for the first televised regular-season high school basketball games in North Carolina.

The games were broadcast by Time Warner Cable SportsChannel, which first began broadcasting regular season select N.C. High School Athletic Association football games in the fall. But even with the cameras and crew on hand, it felt like any other game in the SWAC – filled with action and crowd-pleasing moments.

“It really just felt like a normal game,” Boyd said.

Yet Boyd’s game was anything but normal.

Boyd, a George Mason recruit, caught fire after a slow first quarter to help Apex (8-3, 6-1) stay firmly in second place in the conference. He did so while also having to chase around Panther Creek’s star guard Juan Munoz, holding the Longwood recruit in check for most of the first three quarters.

“It was just me getting to the basket, getting some free throws,” Boyd said.

He hit seven shots in a row at one point.

“Ian was the best player on the planet; he was the best player for sure in the county for 5-10 minutes straight,” Panther Creek coach Shawan Robinson said. “Each year he comes back, he’s added something to his game.”

Eric Field (17 points, eight rebounds) and Colin Molden (12 points) also gave Apex a spark. The Cougars are second in the SWAC going into the holiday break, behind only undefeated Cary.

“We’re escatatic about scoring 80-plus points, and Ian was just incredible. I don’t know what other word to describe it,” Apex coach David Neal said.

I think I'm more excited about Ian Boyd than I've been about any recruit since Sherrod. Can't wait to see him in uniform.

Unlike Larranaga & Hewitt, Coach Paulsen so far has only signed players with 4 years of eligibility for Mason. I'm interested to see if he continues this approach. In the meantime, it's exciting to think about possible 4-year starters for the Patriots including Otis Livingston II & Jaire Grayer on the current roster and recruits such as Ian Boyd.

I would love to see a Juco big/low post player next year. Adding one of those (who is capable of contributing day 1) to a Otis, Grayer, Moore, Boyd and Jenkins could be competitive (assuming improvement from Jenkins and a return to his RS freshmen form).

Most of these guys wouldn't be eligible next year (unless they are graduating 5th-year seniors), but the mid-season transfer list is something I hope Paulsen is at least considering.

Why wouldn't a JUCO transfer be eligible next season?

I was referring to the players on the transfer list I attached when I said they wouldn't be eligible next year.
