It's going to be tough, but if we can win at GW, we will have at least split with each of the other 4 teams in our A-10 scheduling pod.

Regardless of the final record, I think if somebody had said before the season that we'd wind up beating vcu, Richmond, Davidson and GW, we all would've gladly taken that.

Watched some of the replay this morning and really just like when they beat us by 24 in January, I find them to be a very ordinary team. They have one great shooter and some nice athletes, otherwise there's not a lot to be impressed with. Allie-Cox is a nice rim protector, but the same thing that gets him a lot of blocks makes him a pretty terrible overall rebounder. Burgess may share a name with his brother, but that's about it. Guy is soft and seems to fade when the lights get bright. Lewis is a nice PG, but vcu needs great PGs to make up for their awful half-court offense. Brooks fouls about twice every possession. The rest are just average A-10 rotation players.

Also, their scoring balance reminds me a lot of our team in Hewitt's first year (seniors - 37, juniors - 18, sophomore 14, freshman - just watching). So this game was played entirely by Shaka guys. Once they move on, we'll see how much drop-off there really is. Also, Wade and his Harbaugh-style pants exudes nervousness from the sideline. He knows how important this season is and an NIT or worse finish has every national outlet tuning out and crediting all of their past success on Shaka.

On our side, despite tough FT shooting and an almost-green team quickly giving away an 8-point lead, our top 6 didn't hold their own, they dominated. So proud of these guys!

I didn't think the one on campus honored the promotion--just Fair Oaks (not Fairfax Square) and Fairfax Circle. Have things changed this year?

I always thought it was on campus (the students would have a hard time getting to Fairfax Square).

Paul the Idiot ain't coaching our team anymore.

Let's not pretend like we were owning vcu before Hewitt took over. We would have made at least two if not three more NCAA Tournaments under Coach L had he figured out how to beat them at the brown dump in Richmond. Here's to hoping that Paulsen is the first Mason coach in this century to consistently solve the puzzle.

We would beat them in Fairfax, and they would beat us in Richmond. It was almost clockwork for a decade. Unfortunately the tournament was in Richmond...

This is great to read. Knocking them off the bubble just feels so wonderful.

And unfortunately the conference tournament was in Richmond. Still had we just beaten them when we were the higher seed, the two programs would look vastly different right now.

All the art majors on the vcu Boards are going off on each other right now. Most saying Burgess is a bust and some whining and crying about everyone is being so unfair to the poor kid and need to love him instead.

SO SOFT!

This win has left their fans contemplating life right now.... and I love it

I find it funny on the vcu boards, they are all worried about the negativity of talking about players because "the players read the boards."

My first thought was there's not that many pictures, so I am not sure how they know people are writing bad things about them unless the academic advisers are reading it to them.....
Siri reads it to them ... from "borrowed" iPhones.

Edit: misread you're post, but agree. That Maynor game was huge for both programs...

From their boards:

What the heck happened last night?! Is there something going on behind closed doors? I sat with some Mason fans who came into the game just knowing it would get messy for them. They started 3 freshman. They were really hard on the kid Thompson and he looked like the second coming of Will Thomas against us. Is there a discipline problem? At one point I noticed Doug Brooks was standing up in front of the bench while the game was in play for a good 3-4 minutes. I saw one of the assistant coaches tugging on him to sit down and he completely ignored him. And what was up with Tillman? He was a totally different person last night. I've never seen him get so emotional. Those bad emotions probably lead to his bad play. Then KB with the strong bowl after the foul that went into the crowd. These guys looked like they need a good a** whooping. Hopefully whatever is going on gets resolved ASAP. It was hard to watch at times.

Didn't they get a good a** whooping last night?

That guy just doesn't realize they aren't that good and that we played up to our potential tonight. We didn't do anything tonight that we haven't seen at times earlier this year, we just did it for a full 40 minutes.

looked like shevon had a little extra giddyup last night. less tentative, dunks, blocks, etc. foot finally getting better or just fired up by the big match up & not seeing a double team every time he touched the ball?

Shevon starts off like my grandmother getting off the couch -- he's definitely playing hurt.

He worked it hard last night and definitely wanted the win. I wonder if he listened to the announcer dudes at the last game talking about him needing to give more in this his senior year - it is past time for him to show he can move forward for a future in the game.
