As far as Doc Nix and the fmason pep band goes, they pipe in vocals and do not have nearly the impact on the crowd (music and cheers) that the Peppas have. The band is stiff compared to the Peppas. And by the way, Doc Nix's outfit/gig is getting old. It looks like something out of Boggie Nights/Vinyl. Definitely needs an upgrade.

Last zing on famson. Burgess missed two free throws late in the game and everyone got a free Chik fil A sandwich coupon. Only problem was the coupons were only good at two Chik fil A restaurants in the area and could not be used until the next business day. I felt like I was at a Cleveland Indians game!!!"

The Chic-Fil-A thing has been a problem ever since it was introduced. I happen to work near one, but I doubt many people have that luxury. The students that live on campus don't have a problem since there is a Chic-Fil-A on campus.

There were a few vcu fans a few rows in front of me, and I think if they were obnoxious, they would have been tossed because they clearly had no right to sit there. If you are going to steal seats, don't get noticed, and that is what they did.

I read their boards when I got home, they were questioning Will Wade's starting lineup and trying to figure out why it was a blowout in January and not now. I swear, some people do not know the sport at all, and don't realize what a season really means. When you play someone twice, you rarely get the same result, it is called adjusting to your opponent. Melvin Johnson went off on Ga Tech in December for 30 something points and that was with players in his face, so it wasn't a surprise he was hitting shots the way he was. vcu isn't that deep, and it showed. They had to let some of our lay up's go because they were in foul trouble pretty much from the opening tip.

Also, that may be the first time I have seen a shot clock violation on a dunk, and Shevon did the right thing (and then a 2nd one got reviewed). I wonder if college ball will go to the NBA clock before too long (when the shot clock is under 5 seconds, it goes to tenth's of a second).

Got about 3 hours of sleep I was so pumped after the game. I am THRILLED with Jalen over the past few games. He has become/is becoming the player we all thought he could be his freshman year. Loved the entire effort from all involved. The roster is just tough as nails and has no quit in them. The vcu fans around me were so obnoxious at the beginning of the game it was sickening. It was an absolute joy watching them leave with heads down and tails between their legs. Get used to it Wade, there's a new sheriff in town and his name is Dave Paulsen.

Still buzzing from last nights win. Now we know what can happen when they play two complete halves. The arena was electric last night it was so loud at times. Shavon and Jalen were beasts all night. I was questioning earlier in the year if Jalen can handle it on his own next season and now i have no doubt. Watching all those vcu fans after the game leave with their stupid sweatbands and stupid "Havoc" shirts with their heads down in disbelief was priceless. Looking at Twitter this morning i found a ton of bitter vcu fans. I love it!!!!

This game was a blast. After this game it reminded me of the bad Redskins team. If we go 2-14 those 2 wins better be Dallas. Now just got to hope that vcu starts its downward trend and ends up in the Not In Tournament. Or worse.

I've said it for years to all the vcu fans I know: When we play them outside the city of Richmond, things are always different, no matter the record of our squad....

Was talking with some other Mason fans last night and we're starting to get a feel similar to Coach L's first year. A year that laid the groundwork for future success. Might take longer considering the step up in conference, but I'm bullish on our future.

What doesn't make sense is that there appeared to be plenty of empties in the visitor's section...wouldn't they want to sit with their peeps? Or were they going to "show us who's boss"...ha ha ha.

We got down about 7 or 9 in the first half and I thought about how last year that would have turned into a 15 point deficit. For the all the youth, lack of basketball IQ/depth/unwillingness to mix it up on defense, this team's culture has done a 180 in a year. They don't quit and that starts with the coach.

Paulsen is all kinds of awesome. He even beats Larranaga in the regard of when he shows up at Brion's after a win, he doesn't even sit down for a half hour, making the rounds talking with fans.
Guy will never settle. Last night he talked about how bad we played 1st half vs. St. Louis and I said "yeah, but natural let down after the HC win." He was like "yeah, but thats not what we want to settle for ever, can't happen if we are getting to where we want to be."
Amen. So happy he's here.
I did tell him he can lose all he wants to St. Louis if he keeps beating vcu...

My first thought was there's not that many pictures, so I am not sure how they know people are writing bad things about them unless the academic advisers are reading it to them.....

First thing, it was great to be back in Fairfax. Its been about 11 years since I've been able to make it back up to a home game. Part of that was because we started our family and most of that was due to the fact we hired a buffoon as a coach in 2011. GMU Tom sucks I didn't get to see you but the victory made up for it and will make my ride home go by a lot faster. Go Mason!

I bet the seats were in Row Z or something like that. Whatever, if they donated enough, they would have got seats behind vcu's bench like every other opponent that comes to Fairfax does.

I felt bad for the older couple sitting next to me, I'm pretty sure I bumped into them at least 20 times in excitement and they saw that I had "much love" for vcu lol. Fortunately they were Mason fans and didn't mind me getting so excited.

I was sitting in the visitor's section and it was pretty awesome. They were losing their ish. I had two guys yelling at me, and I was just laughing. We pounded them low all game and stuck to it. Guards handled the pressure well, too. We're really looking good over the past 5 games (outside of the first two halves in SLU and UMass).

Not to wax philosophical, but I can't help but love that vcu came in during an epic storm and we just battered down the hatches and sent it limping away. Today's morning was beautiful, traffic was light, Coach L was good on the junks, and Mason basketball is finally waking up. I'm very content with this season..
