The Fire Hewitt crowd in year 1, or even in the middle of the second season, was a bit much. I was on board with giving him 3 seasons as well - still am for now.

I'm talking about comments like "just not impressed with what I'm seeing" getting the "well you're not a real fan" treatment.

I hated the decision from day one. The guy wasn't ready to re-enter the good fight. Welcome Group B, and we await those in Group C. Probably will see some after thursday's debacle.

I think most of us are expecting a complete collapse in conference play. My question is, how many A-10 wins does this team need in order to convince you to put away the pitchforks? For me we really have to bat 500 which I can't imagine is even possible unless something drastically changes with our play.

I think we are all hoping that Mason will flip a switch and play to its potential once we start playing tougher competition. The team did rise to the occasion against St. Mary's. But this hope probably is closer to hoping that Santa Claus is real.

I can live with 8-8 with obvious improvement from Copes, Holloway, Jenkins, and Moore to give me any kind of hope for the future.

I'm happy to admit my optimism regarding the Hewitt hire was wrong. I so wanted us to make a good hire that I allowed it cloud my judgment and subsequent posts to people who criticized it.

In fact, I'll be happy to send a hand-written apology to anybody who initially hated the hire. For those I offended or doubted, feel free to PM me your name and address, and I'll get those personalized apologies in the mail this week.

It's all an elaborate facade to mislead the entire sports/gambling industry...

I'm assuming this is shtick, but it's a very dumb comment. Teams that are light years ahead of Mason in terms of talent don't lose to teams we beat, or require overtime to beat EKU at home. vcu is the most overrated team in the country.

Since none of our players even care anymore at this point your post above will now be Shaka's bulletin board material for next week's game.

I heard a rumor that Hewitt is keeping Gray out because he is actually our secret weapon that he is going to bust out on the A10. It is all starting to make sense now.

hi, although I am vcu fan, I grew up in NOVA and one of my parents was a founding professor in Mason 1970 - 1993...I've seen a lot of mason basketball growing up...Carlos yates and George Evans(?) would be my 2 favorite mason players of all time...

As bad as Hewitt has been...you haven't hit rock bottom...remember Paul West head...that was excruciating to watch...

He didn't promise he would win a National Championship, but only that he felt it was possible.

Now some people who are great at setting uneducated posters straight think it's unfair to be confronted w/past statements. I disagree. So I think a fair question would be if he still believes this is possible and if he sees the program on the right track to getting where it needs to be to accomplish that goal.

Well when he made this quote Luke Hancock was still a Patriot and technically he won a national championship....
