I strangely have an ok feeling about this game. We know BA has had this one circled for a long time, and I just feel like we might sort of match up ok with these guys and their style. Mental lapses will probably ultimately cost us the game (anyone picturing Marko trying to do his behind the back dribble against their press?) but I can see us being able to score and bother some of their shooters. I predict the boards Friday are filled with some hope, then we will lay a big egg on Saturday against St. Joes.

We don't match up well at all with vcu.

Their main strength -- harrassing defense and stealing the ball -- will feast on our inability to handle and pass the ball without coughing it up.

If we finish with fewer than 25 turnovers, I'll be stunned.

If we lose by fewer than 15, I'll be absolutely floored.

They're just much, much better than us, and they play out of their minds at home. Sucks, but it is what it is.

I agree that we don't match up well with anyone, because we are a bad basketball team. However, to this point I don't think turnovers are the thing you'd point to that kill this team game in and game out. I think it's giving up a layup line in half court sets and having zero front court offense. In an uptempo game against vcu our shooters (SW/PH/BA) should be able to get open looks as their men will frequently gamble off of them for steals, and on defense vcu's reliance on the 3 (something we've done ok defending) hints that they may not exploit us as much inside as other teams do.

Again, not saying we win by any stretch, but we should be able to play to some of our strengths and hide some of our weaknesses in this matchup.

Also has surveillance video of the bar fight Sanders got in lol. Its pretty hilarious and if you cant pick him out, hes the tall lanky idiot in a tight suit throwing bottles and who gets bum rushed hahaha.

That's awesome. It's hard to make out with the grainy video, but I'm pretty sure that's Joey Rodriquez who jumps on him at the end.

Oddly, I started having the same "feeling" today. My thought is that a win here would silence critics and that Hewitt coached GMU teams surprise you when you least expect it. For example, I did not expect them to win a game last year in the CBT/CBI whatever it was tournament. :mouthshut:

My feeling could be just a bit of undigested beef. Not sure. o_O

I've learned not to be optimistic about any game Mason plays under Hewitt. (Let alone a season, which I had allowed myself to do coming into this year) It's clear Mason has never put away a game until the last second ticks mercifully off the clock.
As for an NCAA or NIT type season under Hewitt, it doesn't even seem remotely possible with him in charge. I'm not sure I'd believe it if it happened and I was at the postseason game in the stands.

Hewitt always surprises me when I'm ready to step off the ledge. I think Hewitt's system matches up with vcu better than OCM's did. And I think BA will have a career game. If Sherrod and Holloway and one of our bigs show up, and we make vcu play a half court game, I like our chances.

You raise a good point...aside from the divine 2010-2011 season vcu has been a thorn in our side, and even then they knocked us out of the conference tournament, which could have moved us away from a dreaded 8-9 game in the tournament.

We've never played well against vcu, under L or Blewitt, and it's probably why we hate them more than they hate us.

Now, let's get off topic and talk more NCAA tournament seeding possibilities, because I have a feeling I won't get to do that again for a long, long time...

Holloway will light up with nine 3-pointers and Wright will shake his funk to put 22 points on the board. Copes will "accidentally" plant an elbow into vcu's Weber early in the first half, earning both players a spot on the sideline (Copes with a technical and Weber with a broken nose). Copes will feign his best "confused puppy" face when the call is made (or a genuine "confused puppy" face. I'm not certain he's got all eight cylinders firing inside the cranium).

Shaka, failing to respond to the implausible turn of events, will enter a Hewitt-like analysis paralysis with four minutes in the game, only to watch Mason edge his team out by 2 points at the buzzer.

In other news, I'd like to thank Mayors Rob Ford and Marion Barry for sharing some of their high-grade crack with me earlier today. I only party with mayors, see.

We either keep it close for a half and then fall apart or we get blown off the court from the jump. Coaching aside they have more talent at every position, its that simple. Theres not one player on our roster they would trade for. Sadly this goes for most of the teams we'll see from this point on. Oh well

I am just going to get seriously drunk before I watch this game. If we lose like I expect I will simply just pass out before its over - if we win - running around the neighborhood ringing doorbells in the buff.
