That was a pretty nice win. Jmu is awful but I’m glad our defense picked it up and took care of business. Hopefully they figure out how to shoot at some point and make more layups because that should have been a 20 point win easy. I’ll take it though and glad to see the boys play with some attitude for once.

I don't know that we would have beaten Radford, Charlotte, East Carolina, or Northern Illinois this year. Our schedule was definitely tougher but they were 7-4 coming into this game, and have some good defensive and rebounding stats.
I'm not saying they're great, or even good, but we just got a double digit win at home heading into exams. Why do we need to belittle it?

Yep, it took a miracle to beat this team last season and we could have easily won this one by 20+.
Speaking of really bad coaching, why didn't JMU start fouling us much sooner? Like, what was the point of even that first foul with like 25 second left?

Good, I want him to be hated. The more coaches hate him, the better our record probably is.
Their coach played for JMU so this game hurt worse than normal probably. Especially after his team fave up 7 points in 10 seconds last year to lose.

That was not nearly as fun as reading vcu fans lose their s--- over losing to us.
It felt really good to leave EBA with a smile on my face. We took care of some business and beat a bad team at home which is what we're supposed to do. Fun times pre game and post game with some board members at Brion's. I'll take a good night for what it is.....................

Let me clarify. I expected more from JMU tonight considering their record and beating Radford and didn’t expect Mason to have their way with them the way they did. They didn’t take care of the basketball on the offensive end, and I didn’t think they did great things defensively. I’m obviously not a coach or expert, but that’s why I said they were awful.
That said, Mason played pretty well tonight but always room for growth and improvement. A more polished team wins that game by 20, but I’ll gladly take a 13 point win. I saw a lot more energy and edge from Mason tonight all around which was really good to see.
During the double T, JMU's coach saw DP high-five Kier. He thinks DP was instigating the team to draw more T's. That double-T caused the 4th foul on their guy and was Kier's first. Rowe then started yelling at DP, "I'm coming for you! I'm coming for you!" As play continued, Rowe continued yelling at DP. A few plays later, the missed a shot and as Otis was dribbling near their bench, Rowe was walking toward DP yelling at him again. Then he got T'd up.
I couldnt tell if they didnt shake hands at the end, but words were exchanged. Rowe then had words with Simpkins telling him he was sticking up for his players, and finally had words with our Dir of Ops.
I love the energy.
I won't love if this causes Rowe not to want to continue to play us.

It was good to see Mar mixing it up on defense and getting in players shirts even though he had an off shooting night. Was very impressed with his effort guarding players off the dribble and making sure they didn't have clean looks at the basket. Another decent rebounding effort as well with 6 rebounds.
Hopefully that translates to more made baskets in the future for him, but if he can keep up the intensity on defense and on the glass he'll earn his minutes on the floor.
P.S. he needs to find a way to get to the line more often, he's a good FT shooter).

Interesting. Paulsen essentially forced Rowe to shake his hand and kept the line moving. Rowe seemed like he was emotionally distraught during post game over other items, but admitted he didn’t represent well. Odd to say the least, but hopefully they continue to play Mason.
