The more I read about this guy the more I like him. Won a D3 national title, 2x D3 National coach of the year, 2x Patriot League COY, recruited Mike Muscala, and went 113-54 over his last five years at Bucknell. Seems like a basketball lifer who earned his stripes every step of the way.

I don't want to get too far ahead of myself, but I really can't wait for the team to not suck soon.

Couldn't agree more, smaller schools that hire retreads I always dismiss, always seems like a desperation move by a school trying to cling to the success of the former coach.

For what's it's worth, I think you guys got a winner. Paulsen is a class act, and highly regarded in the Patriot League; most consider him the best in the league. He's built a really strong program in a challenging environment. Crazy, but we're sorry to see him go. He was good for the league as a whole. In addition to being a really good Xs & Os guy, I think he's really good at getting the best from his talent. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Good luck!

I like the hire for all the reasons expressed by his supporters on the boards. For those who point to his age, all I can say is look at the coaches in the Final Four. Cal at 56 is probably the youngest and Bo Ryan looks old as dirt.

The guy has won at every level, is smart, is disciplined, can recruit, and can develop talent. We will see a team next year that will be in every game and will not be playing on Wednesday night at the Barclay Center.

After researching him a bit, he seems solid. We won't really know until next season what he's capable of, but in general he seems better to me than Hewitt in almost every way. Hewitt always seemed to be sleezy in comparison...

He seems like the kind of guy I'd want to grab a beer with anyway, haha

Paulsen has clearly proven that he can coach the game of basketball. That is a huge step in the right direction for our program after four years of clown car.

The #1 question in my mind is whether he can successfully recruit scholarship players ... especially the type of players we will need to win in the A-10.

If I'm reading his background correctly, he was a head coach in DIII and a non-scholarship DI league.

Hopefully he will bring in some shooters (think Davidson?????) to go with our athletes, since lower-level programs tend to rely on fundamentally sound guys who can hit the 3.
