Four+ season's into the Coach P era – Dave stated that his first order of business was to change the team's culture. Remember? Dave was appalled that when a fellow player fell to the floor that no one on the team would help him back up. Back then "team" was indeed spelled "teim". Now, look at this video. It reflects a TON of work. Changing a culture takes a loooong time. Well, my friends and fellow fans, a new and vastly improved culture has arrived. Enjoy!

Outstanding point - I think we under-estimated the internal taint and rot left by the virus.

Very good start to the season and no reason not to be happy on Thanksgiving.

I was most impressed by the fact that they came back from behind when they needed to. Its not like they held onto a slim lead and snuck through - they had to dig and fight to get back into the lead in the second half AND THEN keep it.

That is grit.

That was really the best half of basketball that I think I’ve seen in the Paulsen era. If we can just find a way to play with that level of urgency (yet control) consistently, we will be dangerous.

The announcers kept referencing the energy from the bench. The guys dug deep and held each other together with their backs against a wall. That was the most “burn your boat” moment I can remember.

Surprised no one asked about it in the press conference. I'm sure we wouldn't have gotten anything out of Paulsen, but you'd think someone would ask something along those lines.

Had to be team discipline issue. Even paulsen not dumb enough to bench AJ after the year he is having. Couple paulsen homers in my section were even upset by it
I hope so. But DP loves Mar so much I wouldn’t be surprised if it was not discipline related.

GIVING DAY 2023
For what it’s worth, friend of mine mentioned AJs name was on the whiteboard to start in the gold room, so obviously it was a last minute change for some reason.

that said, the kid played plenty and was part of the first team off the bench at the 16 min mark (I think?).

strange but an irrelevant situation in the scheme of things

I missed the fact that Huber is coaching at Bowling Green. That's pretty cool! (for those newer to the program, Larrañaga was the HC at Bowling Green before coming to Mason, and Huger was an assistant at Mason in Larrañaga's last years here). And if I remember correctly (I may not) Huger played for Coach L at Bowling Green

Nice salary for a school without a ton of recent success.

"Bowling Green has the longest NCAA tournament drought of any school in the conference. It has not made the NCAA field since 1968, and Huger said that is a driving factor.

'I’ve got unfinished business here,” Huger said. “1968, it drives me nuts.'”

But, but, but we don't spend enough to warrant having a better coach!
