Doh You know, I even thought about which is which and I always remember libel is written because it is similar to library. Still got it wrong.

We are just such a close community here at masonhoops.com that I feel like I'm having a spoken conversation with each and every one of you.

Does the carousel begin to turn when URI makes it's Tourney exit? How much does anyone want to bet that Pitt makes a play for Danny Hurley? Pitt would be quite a rebuild, but can Hurley be enticed to do it again? Pitt certainly would want someone who has successfully rebuilt before, but their rebuild would really be starting with absolutely nothing.

I would wait for better situations if I were him. Try to make URI pay for him to stay. Even with all their losses, they have some guys coming in (Adams and Harris) to complement Langevine, Dowtin, and Russell. That could be his starting 5 next year.

I have read the Hurley hates rebuilds but I don't see him staying. Too much money to turn down. I think a good amount of schools will come calling for him and I would imagine UCONN is one of them. They do have a really strong recruiting class coming in. It'll be interesting to see how it all plays out. When Duke bounces them today I would think the calls begin for Coach Hurley.

Yeah I was referring to his recruiting class coming in at RI. He also has 5 players graduating this year.

That 5 isn’t getting Hurley back to the NCAA tournament. Unless he is staying for the very long haul, I can’t see him sticking around and passing on the opportunity to set up himself and his family financially for the rest of their lives.

Especially with jobs already open (Louisville) and others that will come available (Arizona) because of the FBI investigation, he will never have a more golden opportunity to cash in than he has right now.

Rhode Island simply doesn’t have the resources to compete with the kind of mega offers Hurley could attract. Their fans will be nervous until the Final Four and likely after that because his departure along with five seniors would be a crushing blow to their program.

UConn is a mess right now, though. Same with Louisville and Arizona after the NCAA comes down on them. He’s making 1.1 million at URI right now so he can be picky about where he goes (a la Shaka Smart).

Also, Jim, everyone here also said there’s no way vcu goes back to the tournament after losing four seniors in 2011 and look what happened. You just never know.
