Looks like Mason emptied the bench in the fourth and UMES at least made it somewhat respectable at the end:

61-40 Mason victory.
Didn't shoot all that well but defended well (umes under 20 percent for 3 qtrs and LOTS of turnovers).

"FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason Patriots topped the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks in a Saturday afternoon matchup, 61-40. This moves the Patriots to 10-1 for the first time in program history.

It was a slow start from both teams as no one scored for the first 3:10 of the game. Sophomore Kennedy Harris finally broke with a three-pointer, which she then hit again just a minutes later from the same spot. Harris scored the first 10 points of the game, and the Patriots held the Hawks scoreless in the first quarter.

By halftime, the Hawks had scored eight points, tying the Patriots' record for fewest points by an opponent in a half. For the Green & Gold, Harris and fellow sophomore Louis Volker were driving the score up. Volker had 12 at the half and Harris had 10.

With a comfortable lead in hand, the Patriots looked to their bench for some minutes. 11 players tallied double-digit minutes in this game. When the final buzzer sounded, the Green & Gold celebrated their best start in program history.

PATRIOT POINTS
  • Louis Volker tied a career-high 14 points in 19 minutes of play, shooting 50% from the floor
  • Kennedy Harris finished with 13 points in 20 minutes of play, including 3-4 from three and 4-4 from the free throw line
  • The Patriots held the Hawks scoreless in the first quarter
  • The Hawks finished with 28 turnovers
  • The Patriots are 10-1 for the first time in program history"

"Another pair of wins this week have Coach Blair-Lewis’ squad off to its best start in program history. The Patriots began the week with an impressive 63-55 road win over Georgetown before heading home to take on Maryland – Eastern Shore on Saturday. George Mason outscored UMES 18-0 in the first quarter en route to a 61-40 victory, moving to 10-1 (1-0 A10) for the first time in program history. The Patriots will look to extend the record when they host UMBC to close out the non-conference slate on Friday."

At the rate they are going, they should keep moving up.

Given what she had done here and some of the "big" names on the prior Coach of the week lists, she will be getting recruited by power 5 teams with bigger budgets and bigger crowds rooting the team on. (Only 651 fans today; I realize that school isn't in session and it's an afternoon game during the holiday break, but this team is worthy of our support)!

Post game:
Kaysia says she'll be back for next game (vs St Joe's in early Jan) but I'm thinking, as bad as she was limping at halftime, that some sort of tests are in order before we'll know about the prognosis.

Indeed. They are fun to watch. I wish more people would come out.
