"This win over Wake Forest is just the eighth win that George Mason has had over an ACC team. This 5-0 start also matches last year's 5-0 start, making it the first time the program has open back-to-back seasons with five consecutive wins.

PATRIOT POINTS

  • Sophomore Kennedy Harris scored a game-high 15 points, and added 5 rebounds and 2 assists
  • Graduate student Nalani Kaysia finished with 8 points and 10 rebounds
  • The Patriots outrebounded the Deacons 41-31"

"FAIRFAX, Va.Head women's basketball coach Vanessa Blair-Lewis has announced the signing of five members of the 2025 incoming class. Included in this group are three players from the DMV area, a former teammate of a current player, and five players from the AAU circuit.

Sanyiah Littlejohn

'George Mason is excited to introduce Sanyiah to our program,' said Blair-Lewis. 'She possesses a rare combination of point guard vision, leadership skills, and scoring ability at all levels. "Her skill set will integrate seamlessly our returning backcourt, showcasing her ability to compete on both ends of the floor with exceptional speed. Undoubtedly, she is one to watch. We eagerly anticipate coaching and developing her throughout her career.'

Kennedy Harris didn't play but I don't think the ESPN+ announcers elaborated on WHY she didn't. I did think I spotted her in uniform in the post game handshake line. Although the team did well tonight (7 players hit at least 1 three), Mt St Mary's is an 0-6 team. The next game in Annapolis is against #10 Maryland and we'll need all the help we can get.

On another topic, I was looking at the A10 stats site for wbb (see link below) and was struck by how Mason stacked up against the other team. Not terrible, mind you, but not particularly noteworthy. Is our strength mainly in the depth of our team?

"FAIRFAX, Va. – An all-around dominant performance from the Patriots ended Tuesday night's game against the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers 87-51.

The Patriots jumped out to a 17-3 start and never looked back. Leading by as much as 41 points, the Green & Gold received good minutes across the board, but junior Jada Brown was the story of the night.

With Kennedy Harris out with a minor injury, Brown filled the starting spot and the leading scorer role. With a career-high 15 points, including a career-high three made three-pointers, Brown was firing on all cylinders in this win.

But it wasn't just Brown that contributed to this win, career-highs were a theme on the team tonight. Junior Page Greenburg added a career-high of her own with 13 points, including three made three-pointers at a .750 clip.

Sophomore Louis Volker had her best game of the season, tying a career-high 12 points at a .500 clip, and adding 5 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 assists.

Captains Nalani Kaysia and Paula Suarez both added 12 points to the bucket. Kaysia also finished with eight rebounds and scored the first three-pointer of her career tonight.

PATRIOT POINTS
  • Six Patriots finished in double-digits
  • Two players, Jada Brown and Page Greenburg, scored career-high points with 14 and 13, respectively
  • The Patriots scored a season-high 13 three-pointers on 59.1% shooting from beyond the arc
  • 31 points off the bench is good for a season-high for the Green & Gold
  • Louis Volker tied her career-high 12 points, shooting at a .500 clip, and added 5 rebounds, 1 block, and 1 steal
UP NEXT
George Mason heads to Annapolis, Md. to play in the Navy Classic at the Naval Academy. The team will play on Saturday, Nov. 30 against #10 Maryland at 3:30 p.m. and on Sunday, Dec. 1 against the host Navy at 1 p.m. Both games will be broadcast on ESPN+."

Did this for the men:

The women’s team clocks in at 45 in the first official NET rankings. That’s the best ever ranking in women’s basketball history and should put them in the conversation for an at-large if they keep up what they’re doing.

"The Hampton, Va. native averaged 25.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists this weekend. She shot 51.4% from the floor, 60% from behind the arc, and 75% from the free throw line as well.

Harris was the game-high scorer against now-#7 Maryland with 26 points, including four three-pointers, two of which came in a dominant third quarter from the Patriots. Against Navy, Harris once again led the pack with 25 points, including 5-6 from the three-point line. She also added six rebounds, and the first block of her season.

Harris currently averages 18.3 ppg at a .495 clip on the season. She's third in points per game in the Atlantic 10, just 0.2 points off the leader.

Last season, Harris was named Rookie of the Week four times and was named to the All-Rookie team at the end of the season. Before the 2024-25 season, she was named to the A-10 Presason Third Team.

In the first NET rankings of the year, the George Mason Patriots are ranked #45, the highest the program has ever been ranked, besting last year's program-high, #48. They are currently ranked third among A-10 teams in the NET, with Richmond (#19) and Saint Joseph's (#40) above them."
