I really am curious who will join this. Its still early enough in the process where some schools are still looking for an MTE. Anyone know if UVA, VT, Georgetown or UMD are already committed to thanksgiving tourneys?

The original field all backed out, but it was going to be Little Rock, St. Bonaventure, Bradley, Long Beach, FIU, Weber, Buffalo, and Cleveland St. Not sure they care too much about big names or P5’s in this tourney.

Ahh good to know, that helps set expectations lol. So we are probably going to be the star of the show lol. God if we have to play Buffalo/Charlotte and they beat us I think you’ll have to take down the servers for 24-48.

2018 it was Oregon State, ODU, Kennesaw State, Missouri, Northern Iowa, Penn, Eastern Kentucky, Kansas State
2017 it was Mercer, Drexel, Liberty, Houston, Quinnipiac, Colorado, Drake, Wake Forest

The reality is even under non-COVID conditions our program would be in no man’s land from a scheduling perspective.

Hard to get good teams to want to play you when your recent trend line is meh, but you are just dangerous enough that you could conceivably beat them and saddle them with a dreaded “bad loss.”

P6s ideally are looking for an OOC opponent that can either help their NCAA profile or deliver an automatic win. Right now we are neither and that’s a bad place to be.

Early breakdown of what my Preseason Top 50 teams will do for MTE (multi-team events):

Orlando - 13 teams
Mohegan Sun - 7
Host Own: 6
Asheville - 5
South Dakota - 4
Nebraska - 3

Some still up in the air, some others not doing an MTE.

A stellar field of high quality, no, top notch opponents. It's the type of field I've come to expect while Mason basks in the glow of the dominant Paulsen years. I will have words with anyone who casts a negative light on this announcement.

Have you been at Brion's this morning already? hahaha.

I agree with you and I dislike this MTE very much.

I hope Basketball Travelers is paying us a lot of money to play in this. I wonder what our options were with COVID - probably not a lot?

I mean most of the A10 has figured out better options than this, so to me this is more of a reflection on us than anything else.
