WASHINGTON, D.C. - Heading into his first season, Catholic University men's basketball head coach Aaron Kelly will face a challenging schedule that includes 11 home games, including three 20-win teams from a year ago and the annual College Park Holiday Inn Classic.

"I am super excited for our first season together and really looking forward to the process of building this team," said Kelly. "Relationships take time to form so we will remain patient and committed to the process and we look forward to seeing where this season will take us."

Kelly will open his first season as a head coach in familiar territory when Catholic travels to Division I George Mason for an exhibition game on Wednesday, Oct. 30. Kelly spent the previous four seasons at nearby George Mason where he was instrumental in the resurgence of the Patriots' program, contributing to in-game management and overseeing all recruiting efforts.

"We have a great schedule beginning with a really challenging early season exhibition at George Mason," said Kelly. "I know our student-athletes embrace the opportunity to play the best, so this will be a great chance for our program to tip it up against a storied Division I program."

6. James Madison
2018-2019 Record: 14-19 (6-12) – 8th in CAA

James Madison hasn’t made it out of the bottom 3 of the CAA since the 2015-2016 season, which was before current coach Louis Rowe took over. The Dukes weren’t horrible in any one category last season, they just frankly weren’t good in any. Uninspiring would be a good word to describe the 2018-2019 campaign for the squad.

From their four double-digit scorers last season, three return, including leading scorer Matt Lewis and double-double threat Dwight Wilson. Having returning production is a rarity in the CAA for this upcoming season, and is a great foundation for the Dukes to build off of. They also bring in 3-star Forward Michael Christmas, an athletic player who should likely make a difference immediately for his team.

James Madison may not be one of the best teams in the CAA this season, but they shouldn’t be one of the worst. Their experience alone puts them ahead of a few teams, and their talent should keep them in many games. The question that carries over from last year remains large, what do they do well? If they can find a calling card early in the season, then they have a chance to be a top-half finisher in the CAA.

Season tickets came in today. Same packaging and look like the past 5 years that I can remember. I get we are small time but you think someone could make this look a little cooler/better. My parents have season tickets to the Patriots and when they get them it looks like they spend $500 on packaging and display.. they obviously don't. I get we aren't the Pats but put a little effort in.

If there's any others who haven't received their season ticket packages yet, apparently the distributor sent out a 2nd batch last night via overnight. So many should be receiving their tickets today.

I just read on the Bucknell board that Santi Aldama, the highly regarded 6’11’” freshman from Spain for Loyola MD, had a knee procedure and may miss the Mason game on Nov 19th. Aldama was the MVP of the U18 European championship for Spain this past summer.

JMU plays UVa today at 6 on ESPNU. Don't expect it to be close but it's a chance to see an upcoming opponent go against an excellent defense.

UVa held Syracuse to only 30 some points just a few days ago.
