JMU plays UVa today at 6 on ESPNU. Don't expect it to be close but it's a chance to see an upcoming opponent go against an excellent defense.
UVa held Syracuse to only 30 some points just a few days ago.
UVa covers: 65-34
ODU beats St. Joes.

amen... our schedule gets infinitely better as it goes.. so far we have beaten #295 and #305... glad we won but we had to lolJust some thoughts on the season so far, seen through the eyes of the KenPom rankings.
Granted it's early in the season when those rankings would seem to be quite unreliable, but Kenpom still has us at #155, the same as when the season began. Likely reflecting that their/his spreads on our games have been pretty much on the nose.
Each of our first 5 games are against teams that are a bit better than the previous opponent yet inferior to our current ranking. The next 3 spreads have us as favorites by 9, 8, and 6 respectively. Then we are underdogs to UMd by 17 and ODU by 1.
One could argue that the return of Justin and the more experience that our otherwise young team will get as the season progresses will mean we will be better than we are currently, resulting in an improvement of our ranking. Naturally the initial Kenpom ranking is a bit iffy---did it factor in that Justin would be out several games? Hard to know what number to put on that.
Looking forward to how all this plays out in the upcoming weeks!
Highly ranked GW transfer Amir Harris gets his waiver and is now allowed to play this year.. should be a big improvement for the GW roster.. 3 years of eligibility left for the Frederick MD product
Is it okay to refer to kids as "products"? Asking for a friend since "horses" was offensive to some on here.
Yikes fair point. Don’t want to offend anyone. Better not say man either because we don’t know how Amir classified himself. Might not even be a human if he considers himself something else. What a wild game, but does that hurt or help our SOS?JMU just beat ODU, does that hurt our already bad SOS?
I would think it’s relatively negligible unless either of them lose out the rest of the way. Not that it really matters. We don’t have the OOC schedule to really justify anything anyways. What a wild game, but does that hurt or help our SOS?
I don't understand the negativity around our SOS. The A10 is looking really good this year, so that alone helps us. vcu will probably be ranked when we play them. And Mason has opportunities with a few big OOC games.I would think it’s relatively negligible unless either of them lose out the rest of the way. Not that it really matters. I'm not negative about it at all. I think it's exactly what we needed (starting out with some confidence builders) but it certainly wasn't put together as a roadmap to get to the tourney, which I'm totally fine with this year. Starting out with five straight home games against teams you have to go to the last page of Kenpom to find isn't a signal you're expecting to be in the conversation on Selection Sunday without having won the A10 tourney.I don't understand the negativity around our SOS. Anyone else think the basket counted at the end? The clip I saw looked like .1 was still showing on the clock when the ball left his hand and the commentators saying it looked good.JMU just beat ODU, does that hurt our already bad SOS?

People are negative because before the season even started we essentially had zero shot at an at-large bid if the team has a good year. That sucks, I enjoy at least having hope

I didnt realize the clock being shown in the lower right was off.The problem was the clock on the bottom right of the replay was a tenth off, but there wasn't a camera angle to show whether the ball was on his fingertips or not when the red light came on. The red light is what counts. You would think with technology now a days, a clearer view could be determined.
