I'd prefer they go after another shooter with the last scholarship. Great 3-point shooting is the equalizer against bigger, more athletic, and more purely talented teams in college basketball. If we want to get to the tourney and make it out of the first round, we need more than 1-2 consistent 3-point threats. Last season we didn't have a single player hit 40% from deep, and that's just not going to cut it for a team with below-average size and athleticism. Otis shot the best at 38.2%, which is pretty impressive considering the number of minutes he played, but Goanar and Jaire were the next best at 35.7% and 35.4%. After that there was a significant dropoff.
I think Jaire's shooting will bounce back closer to his sophomore numbers (38.3%) next year once he gets healthy, but unless Goanar improves a bit after an extra summer of conditioning, and unless JDS is as good of a shooter at this level as he was in HS (I think he will be eventually, but always a big "if" for a freshman season - e.g., Javon Greene at 23.8%), that only gives us 2 options that have a realistic shot to shoot around 40%.
