It seems really late in the recruiting cycle. Does anyone have an idea of when Paulsen's
prospects will make a decision.
Probably need to wait and see what the transfer market looks like first.

Via Verbal Commits:

2017 @RENShoops & Mount Vernon big man Greg Calixte will be taking an official visit to George Mason on 4/7.

Really hope we can get this kid. He seems like a work horse with the exact drive and mentality that Paulsen looks for in players.

Interview from December:
On where he commits and what he's looking for in a school...
"Somewhere where I can see myself fitting..." CHECK
Somewhere where I can see myself playing, contributing..." CHECK
I want to go somewhere where I can learn, I'm not necessarily focused on a big school." and CHECK

But are the talent evaluators on BonaBandWagon.com as skilled as the talent evaluators on MasonHoops.com?
Personally, I think we should go ahead and offer Daniel Fotu (Kahuku/New Zealand), 2018. Caught my eye on Calixte's videos. Moved him to number 1 on my "big board".

And no one gives an F what I think, but I come here to pretend I'm the Mel Kiper of college basketball.

If you are 6'9" 230 lbs and still available at this point you probably have huge flaws in your game but I guess we need big bodies.

Fair analysis, but ...

Given the fact that we are most likely also looking to add a veteran big, I would say Greg would have time to work on his game and address those flaws.

He certainly has the raw material to work with.

If we could land a Freshman big, and a JUCO big, we will be absolutely loaded next year.

If that scenario happens, you are looking at us being predicted in the top 4 of the A10 pre-season poll.

I'll believe Paulsen takes a veteran transfer when I see it, he never did so at Bucknell

Finding one who could play AND whose academics were good enough to get past admissions at Bucknell couldn't have been easy.

He won't have the same problem at Mason, and we obviously need a big ready to play right now.

I would be really excited to get Calixte, but I have to admit the excitement will be tempered if we don't also land a Juco or grad xfer that can step in at the 5 immediately.
Completely agree. No reason to not fully go after a transfer/juco at this point. The team really needs a viable center and a grad transfer doesn't hinder your 2018 recruiting at all.

McDONOUGH — Henry County High’s Javon Greene finished off his high school basketball career in style this season.

Greene was one of the main reasons why the Warhawks were able to win Region 4-AAAA and advance to the Class AAAA Final Four. He averaged nearly 20 points per game this season and was a deadly three-point shooter. Greene scored 57 points in a game this year and eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for his career.

Greene is committed to continue his career at George Mason University next season.

“Javon is a player that has really matured,” Henry County head coach Vincent Rosser said. “He has the potential to be good at the next level.”

The Henry Herald is pleased to name Greene as the 2016-17 Boys Basketball Player of the Year.

HH: What’s next for you?

JG: The next step in my career is to finish out high school and get my diploma, then head to George Mason University on an athletic scholarship. I will be leaving in the beginning of June for summer school so I can get used to the campus life and get a head start on earning college credits. I also have hopes that I will have the opportunity to extend my basketball career once I graduate from GMU.
