2017 Recruiting

I don't mean to be a d!ck, but is it too much to ask that we don't say guys on our team should transfer before we know whether they are leaving or not?

Whether or not it ultimately proves to be true, I'm not sure how it helps for our fans to say our guys aren't good enough to play here.

We have enough challenges without shooting ourselves in the nuts.

Why not? It worked out so well for BandWagonFan4Life and his comments on Marquise Moore transferring.

And pulling Isaiah Tate's scholarship before that.

And not promoting Chris Caputo from video coordinator before that.

best of luck to those three guys...Now this is official...

Get us a "4/5" a "5" and a 6'4"-6'5" wing.

We have two 4/5s on the roster already.

My wishlist:

1) A transfer center (JUCO or fifth year transfer) who can play next season.

2) A PG in 2018 (Otis's senior year).

3) A SG who can hit consistently from outside (2017 or 2018) and defend multiple positions.

It will be interesting to see what is still out there and what we end up with.

Unsigned players? Guys who decommit after coaching change? Transfers? Juco? 1 year grad player?

Sure if you want to hurt the program you supposedly root for. Fire away.
CHARMIN soft. posting on an anonymous message board is going to make or break our program. Are you kidding? Danny Dixon will never play a meaningful minute of Mason basketball ever again (mutual departure), Murrell will but probably shouldn't since Greene seems to be the real deal (5th guard on depth chart so he should leave), and frankly Abram has too much athleticism and 2 years of eligibility left so he should leave for his own sake. I don't agree with taking anyones scholarships away, but yes we have players on this team that should not be on the roster. I would take Myles Tate (walkon) over Danny Dixon any day of the week. One had a scholarship and was our worst rostered player and one did not and was our second worst rostered player.

Good luck to all three. I hope they find situations where they can play.

I still like the idea of holding at least one, maybe two scholarships for 2018. Bring in a walk-on or two if you need bodies for practice.

I hate having unfilled scholarships. I don't want to sign players that aren't A10 caliber players, but I would rather take a chance on a 1 year grad player who will open the scholarship the next year then to just not use it.

I know coach Fischer and the rest of the assistants are going to bring in some great guys. whether it is this class or the next. This is a huge step up for our program whether people on this message board like it or not. The flexibility this gives us is tremendous

Best of luck to all 3 of them. I appreciate the service that they gave our program and hope they find what they are looking for.

I'd love to see the classes get a little balanced out. Maybe bring in another 2017 recruit, a grad transfer, and save the other. That way we enter 2018 with at least 2 scholarships to give.

If we can get a grad transfer, I'm all for it.

Yep, with the grad transfer, no need to worry about holding scholarships. Use it for 2017-18 and then it's open for an incoming freshman.

I would think we're a pretty attractive for an immediately-eligible big because we have a starting spot and 30-plus minutes of playing time to offer. We also have an excellent PG and a young team poised to do damage. What's not to like?

No, I would say most of us realize that Pitino recruits blue chippers out of high school and rather than risking NCAA violations to steal a guy averaging just under 11 points from George Mason.

And that it was much more likely Larranaga leaving and his former Hargrave coach being hired to the staff in April that put Hancock on Louisville's radar rather than secret conversation in February/March.

But I also believe the moon landing happened, vaccinations don't cause autism and neither 9/11 or AIDS were planned by the CIA, so take that for what it's worth.
Did you forget they hired prositutes to lure incoming freshman to their program, the same year Hancock transfered.

Also Hancock scored 11 points on average on a top 25 team as a sophomore. Played lights out against Villanova. It was pretty obvious he was going to blossom into a really good player

But again I don't believe this. Just like I don't believe any conspiracy. I just find them interesting

Nobody is arguing it won't benefit both the program and the kids who were leaving. My only point is we don't need to trash our own players on our board. It's a bad look.

Sorry if that's a radical concept. Guess I'm just CHARMIN soft...
