While the school made the official announcement about Luke Hancock transferring, it was Brian Mull who first reported it - see http://www.connect2mason.com/content/rumors-luke-hancock-transferring-surface:

"Brian Mull, a beat writer for UNCW who also covers CAA basketball, Tweeted earlier today that 'George Mason guard Luke Hancock is expected to transfer. #caahoops.'

As of 11 a.m., Mull has not revealed his sources and it remains speculation.

Maureen Nasser, Associate Athletic Director for George Mason University, said she has no knowledge of Hancock planning to transfer.

She only found out about the rumor through Mull’s Tweet, and said Hancock has not spoken to any representative of Mason about planning to transfer.

'As far we know, he is looking at his options,' Nasser said.

Every player has the option to transfer following Jim Larranaga’s departure and the subsequent hire of Paul Hewitt.

According to Nasser, sophomore guard Rashad Whack is the only player to have officially filed for transfer. He remains undecided, however."

"Who is Brian Mull?"

latest one was 2011 for hancock. i'm guessing we'll see something more along the lines of what they posted after paulsen was hired & the hewitt guys left just announcing the new guy(s). probably will be all our unofficial speculation until someone signs.

Maybe I love conspiracys to much. But has anyone ever thought Louisville was talking to Hancock after we beat Villanova. And that's why Hancock didn't play in the Ohio state game.

I don't believe this. Have no reason to believe this. But I just like conspiracy theory's

pretty sure the food poisoning did him in for the actual game, but he may very well have already been on the louisville train even if larranaga had stuck around.

He would be a huge get. Great player, but had an injury junior year and teams had to focus their recruiting efforts to other players. Miami offered him before his injury
Purely speculative, and I fully admit it might be misguided speculation.. but given the current makeup of our roster, Paulsen showing interest in a 2017 6'4 guard makes me think we get more than one transfer. He clearly has made an effort to fill a big man void, and that seems to be a priority, so this makes me believe we will have departure from our back court as well. Or..... I am completely and totally wrong.

Latest rumor from the green coats is that Abram, Dixon, and Murrell are leaving

not to be happy but Abram deserves playing time somewhere and I hope Dixon and Murrell are transferring for academics, because they are not D1 basketball players

I wouldn't necessarily say that about Dixon and Murrell. I remember Larranaga taking a chance on Jay Threatt and when he got on the court for us his freshman season he looked completely overmatched. Most of us said he didn't look like a D1 player. He transferred to Delaware State and by his senior season he averaged 8.8 points, 6 assists and 3 steals a game.

Anyway, it is pretty clear Dixon, Murrell and Abram aren't going to get much playing time here, so if the rumor is true and all three are out, good luck to them wherever they land.

I wouldn't have any heartburn if Temara and Relvao left in addition to Murrell, Dixon, and Abram.

I get it, Coach P needed some bodies to plug onto the roster when he took over knowing they weren't A10 caliber players. Out of the 5, Abram is the only one I would actually keep around but it isn't looking likely he will stay either.

Temara would be an ok CAA level player at a school like Northeastern, but not a school like GMU. Dixon would be great at William and Mary. Murrell could get minutes at UNCW.
