I would be really excited to get Calixte, but I have to admit the excitement will be tempered if we don't also land a Juco or grad xfer that can step in at the 5 immediately.

Couldn't agree more. We have 2 230 pound bigs. And in due time I think they will be good if not great.

Your right. That's my point, get the player that has more skill.

Calixte to me looks very similar to Troy. Big, athletic and raw. Tons of upside, but Fredrick looks a little more polished to me.

My guess is Fredrick would be better suited to contribute right away because he has shown success at the JUCO level, a slightly higher competition level than high school.

Greg Calixte, the 6-9 PF from NY, will be at Mason this weekend.

Yeah - I'd be happy with both. Having seen Calixte play though, I agree that it's Frederick who can help GMU right away.

I'm not completely sold on Frederick yet. I've read some of the things that led him to be juco in the first place - including butting heads with former coaches. Obviously our staff isn't going to offer the kid if they didn't think those things were non issues at this point, but there is a teeny tiny bit of baggage there.

If we are looking for someone to come help us right away and someone put a gun to my head, I would rather take a shot with a grad transfer. Having said that, if we do land Frederick, I'll be his number 1 fan.

I like the potential with Calixte. I don't think anyone expects him to be someone that could give us major minutes right away. He would be someone we would look to help us further down the line.

The thing that has me most excited about Frederick from the videos I've seen is his passing ability for a big man. Definitely would be a facilitator in the Paulsen pick and pop type offense.

I noticed that too. And I also like that he has good hands. He catches the ball smoothly in the paint.

I will be ecstatic if we land Frederick. Barring a grad transfer, I think he is exactly what we need.
