According to a tweet I just read, Gilbert told his coach that he will seek his release from Mason. :grumpy:

I hope that these tweets will convince him to honor his commitment:

@GilbertAhmad stick with us - be a part of the group that gets us back to the Final Four!

Stan Robinson from PVI is transferring from Indiana. He visited mason a couple times during his jr year of HS. Probably just to come with pat thou.

Congrats to Ahmad Gilbert, who made All-Southeastern Pa. first team - see http://www.philly.com/philly/sports..._first_team__Ahmad_Gilbert__Constitution.html:

"Dangerous in the open court and around the basket, the 6-foot-7 senior lefthander averaged 17.6 points, 11 rebounds, 2.5 steals, and 2.1 blocks while leading the Generals to a 24-8 record and their third state championship. In an 85-53 romp over District 10's Farrell in the Class A final, Gilbert, a George Mason recruit, delivered 28 points, including six three-pointers; 11 rebounds; four assists, three steals, and two blocks."

Gilbert seems to be a great player to start a build around with a coach that knows what he's doing.

Would be nice to keep him, and then hopefully see what he, Mayimba, Lockett can add to Jackson and Thompson. Then if Jenkins and Holloway could maybe revert to their older selves without the wet blanket of Hewitt capping their games, we might be a pretty decent core of talent and competition.

If it's true that Russell is our guy, I like our chances with his NBA experience.

Johnny Williams' little brother J3 has received release from Missouri and will transfer. He was their leading rebounder last season.

I don't think we have room for another big man on the roster (unless some of our current bigs leave) but this is intriguing. We know their family loves Mason.

It would be awesome of Mason could get Drexel senior transfer Damion Lee to Mason..but I wouldn't hold my breath on that.

J3 would be a tremendous get. HUGE. Someone get him on the phone.....

I'd love to know if Paulsen is willing to keep J2 on staff as a grad assistant, and whether J2 is interested in such a position. The opportunity to work with his brother could play a big role in J3 considering Mason as his next destination.

Also, any talk of making room for J3 assumes that all returning players and recruits stay at Mason, which is not a lock at this point.

He'd be a phenomenal get, but can't imagine a guy leading an SEC program in points and boards wanting to transfer to a cellar-dweller A-10 program.

He's going to go to UMD and make them a dark horse candidate for a nat'l championship.
