Bucknell was a NIT team this year weren't they?

Oops, yes they were, thanks for the clarification. I do hope, though, that Gilbert realizes he has the opportunity to get playing time right away in a good conference.
The worst thing we have going against us is how much he blew up his senior year. Hewitt's departure gives him an out to explore other options.

Oh no another SF Hewitt recruit that can't shoot, has shitty fundamentals, and no basketball IQ isn't coming here? How will Paulsen ever make it here?
Not sure if you've been following his senior year. But, he appears to be better than the rest of the SF that Hewitt recruited. He's been playing at a very high level. It would be great to have him.

Paulsen recruits kids that can think on the run and under pressure. Not sure he will have much luck with current roster. If you are slightly dumb, you will probably feel threatened to play for him.

The talent is there. All they ever needed was a good coach. I think they will surprise people next year.

Walt, please stop saying this, because it just gets Raider's hopes up. We desperately needed shooters and ballhandlers on last year's team, and now we're even worse off with
Edwards and Gray gone. To say Paulsen needs to plug a few holes in our backcourt would be a major understatement.

I have absolutely no doubt that Paulsen can get more of our roster than Hewitt did, but to say it's just a matter of coaching them up is not true when one of Hewitt's biggest failures was recruiting guards who can dribble, shoot or — gasp! — do both.

With our coach meeting tomorrow with this young man (who was POTY and on a 3 time championship team), can you please stop with the derogatory commentary. He was 6 for 7 from 3 point range in the finals which his team won by 30 points.

Speculate away, but Gilbert's twitter no longer says "George Mason" as it did previously.

His pictures signing the letter of intent with his GMU hat are still on his Twitter site. Still hoping his commitment to GMU and his passion and skills are coming to Fairfax. Good luck Coach Paulsen and congrats Ahmad for a great season and career at Constitution.

From his most recent review on ESPN about camping on the 3 pt line, looks like Hewitts promise of turning him into a pg/sg may have effected his game

Gilbert to figure out figure after meeting with Paulsen

Within the next 24 hours, Constitution senior Ahmad Gilbert should have a much better idea of his recruiting situation.

Gilbert, a 6-foot-6 wing, committed to George Mason and head coach Paul Hewitt last fall, picking the Patriots over Hofstra, Rhode Island and South Florida. Hewitt was relieved of his duties after a 9-22 season, GMU’s second in the Atlantic 10, and was replaced earlier this week by former Bucknell head coach Dave Paulsen.

Paulsen and Gilbert are scheduled to meet tomorrow, with Paulsen making the trip up to Philadelphia to meet with the only player currently committed to come to GMU this fall.

“I might still open up my recruitment, just in case, if I don’t really like get the feel of him,” Gilbert said.

In seven years as the head coach at Bucknell, Paulsen led the Bison to a 134-94 record (.588), including NCAA Tournament appearances in 2011 and 2013, the bookends of three straight Patriot League regular-season titles under his watch. They won the league again this season with a 19-15 (13-5) record, but were upset by Lafayette in the semifinals of the Patriot League tournament.

You can bet that success at Lewisburg will be one of the topics covered tomorrow, but it’s really a chance for the two to get to know each other and for Gilbert to feel out if the school will still be a good fit for him under the new staff.

“I really don’t know anything about [Paulsen]. I’m not trying to say that to be smart, but I don’t know,” he said. “I would like to play for him if the sit-down goes very well, but it really doesn’t matter at this point, I just want to play college basketball, so whatever happens, happens.”

If Gilbert does decommit and look elsewhere for a place to play in 2015-16, it won’t be at any prep schools.

“I’m definitely going to college. I’m not going to prep, I’m definitely going to pick a school,” he said. –Josh Verlin

Gilbert signed a LOI, I don't think CJ Jackson has yet and only gave a verbal.
