Doesn't mean Paulsen will take him, certainly doesn't have to

No, but he will definitely have to find another PG to back up Moore if he doesn't take Jackson. The good thing is he has the luxury of picking somebody who will be a good fit for the system he wants to run.

Unless the kids a dirt bag, Paulsen doesn't strike me as the "I don't want that kid" type.

He will...oh my god...figure out how to use the kid..even if he has to alter his offense.

Novel idea....

It was also novel to hear the coach say that he changed his offensive system three times in order to best use the strengths of his players.

I just watched the press conference and Coach Paulsen is impressive. As was Angel who listed about five ways that basketball, as the "front door," can improve George Mason the university. It seems like with Angel, Brad, and the coach we have a great team with a shared vision of greatness, for the basketball team and the school.

CJ Jackson has been described as a sharpshooter, but he's about the same size as Hollway (so he would have had a hard time getting his shot off in Hewitt's system). He was also Lockett's teammate and so I would suspect he's coming next year.

If Gilbert keeps his commitment, I expect our 3-point shooting to be much improved with Gilbert and Jackson joining Holloway and the other Jackson on the roster and an offensive system that will be designed to get them "gasp" open looks.

It's going to be really curious to see how Paulsen handles the insane number of small forwards we have (Jackson, Mayimba, Lockett, Gilbert* -- all competing for minutes at one position). Jackson will probably be able to slide over to the 2 and possibly Mayimba, which should help.

Also curious to see if Holloway regains his starting position his senior season. I know Holloway has "defensive deficiencies," but I suspect a lot of that had to do with Hewitt and less to do with Holloway.

* For Gilbert's question mark on retaining his commitment to George Mason.

I think Lockett can play the 2 as well. At least, that is what Hewitt envisioned.

Id disagree. I say a lot had to do with Patrick as well.

To buy the premise that Holloway is just a bad or lazy defender, one must also come to the conclusion that Sherrod, Allen, Vertrail, and Gray were all similarly just bad or lazy defenders. And I don't see how a coach who prides himself on his defense recruits four lazy defenders.

This after the unfortunate luck of having 3 former top 100 players all regress after their freshman year.

Defensively, I believe that Holloway will have to make the biggest adjustment of the returning players. IMO, Patrick is at his best when he uses his quickness to get in the passing lanes to make steals. But, based on what I've read about Coach Paulsen, he plays a conservative man-to-man defense. In other words, if you gamble and leave your man to attempt a steal, you better be sure that you succeed.

Your sarcasm is awesome.

However Pat was never an elite defender, even in HS. He was passable at best.
