In their defense, vcu and Davidson had really good ball-handers and shooters. Hewitt's lack of success had nothing to do with switching leagues and everything to do with not successfully recruiting the most important positions for a guard-oriented league.

Agreed, but I was thinking more about the bind Hewitt put us in this year with our backcourt. Holloway was in a funk all year, Gray was used sporadically, Corey at 5-f00t-9 was our starting 2-guard and rarely shot the ball, and Moore played hurt more often than not.

Moore and Jackson were bright spots, but both of them were in over their heads going against the competition they were facing. I am looking forward to seeing both of them with a coach who help take their respective games to the next level.

My sources have told me Krieder has cleaned out his office and is left. As far as I know Skeeters and Houston are still at mason. Most people I have talked to think we should know within the next week.

The fact is, we had been recruiting boys the past 5 years, while we needed to recruit men. We recruited some soft forwards and kids who had no passion, killer instinct to win, or with leadership abilities. They just wanted to play ball for 4 years. They had no passion for George Mason..... this is where a great Coach develops love and passion for a team and their sport. Something that Hewitt NEVER did with his teams. Coach L did it..... look at the fire and passion from Lamar, JV, Jai, Tony, Dre Smith, etc. They all had it and that killer mentality to win..... to win for their school and team rather than for the name on their back. The past 5 years, the majority of these kids have been playing for the names on their back rather than the name on the front. Thats where our winning teams have separated themselves from our losing teams. Coincedence!?

BA and Sherrod didn't get along, they had a working relationship with one trying to out perform the other. A good Coach could of gotten more out of them and those teams.

Hate to say it, vcu has recruited men with passion and that killer instinct. Shaka's Navy Seal training with the team helps them with this mentality.

Same. I couldn't disagree more... other than the coaching bit. These kids have worked their asses off. I would point it all on the coach, not the players.

I'm sorry, but cheap shot from guy in the stands who shows up on game day, bitches on a message board afterwards, and doesn't have to put in the hours of film, wind sprints, lifting weights, travel, and practice - in addition to all the other commitments of a college student.

I'm not there either, but I do know I didn't see a team that had quit on the court, this despite a pitiful record that they knew they were better than and that has to take even more commitment that being all-in when things are going well.

So why couldn't either the coach nor the players figure out how to pass outta a double team? Or give proper instruction vs Davidson at home? Practice? We talkin bout Practice! Not the game....PRACtice!

With all due respect to the message board members, but some of their indifference is due to their lack of connection to reality - in fact they are in a world of their own:

They are under the delusion that Mason is located in Anacostia, DC and they are a storied program. They sound cute though.

Prohm will never be leaving Murray State. He has all the tools to win a National Championship in Murray without all the pressure. He will make more money then he will ever dream of and his roots and home will be in Murray and he will retire in Murray. PERIOD so all you poachers give it up. vcu and Butler and Gonzaga have all proved that this can be done.

Not trying to taunt here, but when CSP leaves us, it won't be for George Mason, who while they play in the A-10, just doesn't have history or the tradition of a Murray State University.

That was my reaction. While it could be possible, you just had an amazing season the SC said "no thanks."

Again the lower conference paradox....you can lose every game all season, win the conference tourney and have a better reward than being ball busters all season, losing in your conference tournament and being sent to the NIT or less....
