For all you losers in the Arlington area tomorrow night, Trey Porter and the Potomac (VA) Tigers (26-0) will be playing for the 5A North Region Championship at Wakefield (23-4) and winners of 13 straight games. They are coached by friend of PoorManProfit and, like the PoorManProfit, a graduate of Washington-Lee High School. Game time scheduled for 7 PM.

Former Patriot Rob Anderson played for Wakefield and was selected to the 1997-98 All-Met Second Team (former Patriot Dereck Franklin was on the All-Met First Team that season while playing for Chantilly H.S.).

Mr. Anderson started at Wakefield, but finished at Yorktown HS in Arlington, VA as well.

When was the last time we ran a play for a back door lob for a dunk. I love those plays, it tells me the coaches and the players can actually diagnose defenses for easy buckets. So I guess it would make sense that it has not happened recently.

To keep it on track, I am really excited to see what Porter can do at Mason over 4 years.

Good times. AC or Hancock were always on point with the lobs from beyond the 3 point line too...man those were fun times. Mike Mo could get up and after it too!

Will Thomas dunks were serious as well. Always coming with the mandatory scream and or "lets go"....

We do have to maintain our quota of players named Vaughn, however. I believe that's athletic department policy.

I'll be the voice of reason. We don't need "athletes" that can dunk. We need "basketball players" that understand and can execute fundamentals that win games. I could care less if anyone can dunk, it's only 2 points.
Hey, with the amount of layups we missed this season, it would be helpful to have more dunks!!

Not to mention you can teach a kid fundamentals; you can't teach athleticism and swagger. Mike Morrison was nothing more than a dunk highlight reel when we recruited him, and he was playing very fundamentally sound basketball by the end of his senior year. In fact, despite valid criticisms about Hewitt's inability to make players better, I think he did some of his best work with Morrison.

Trey Porter and the rest of Potomac (VA) just couldn't get it done in the 5A North Region Championship game vs. Wakefield tonight. Warriors! Way to represent ARL!

I knew when I saw them play Hylton the wouldn't run the table. Potomac has zero depth, and I figured when they got deep enough in the playoffs, they would lose.

Since none of us care about your high school, I'll add the relevant fact that Porter did score 23 points in the game. Way to represent PORTER!

Actually, PM Pro is a graduate of Washington-Lee. He's just supporting his friend & Arlington.

Whatever. It's just typical in his typical anti-GMas posts that he has to say something negative about our recruit in a recruiting thread. It's a shame Potomac couldn't pull out the win, but it is nice to see that Porter played well.
