Trey Porter converted 14 of his 20 free-throw attempts Tuesday and finished with 18 points as Potomac High School's boys basketball team beat Massaponax 69-51 in the Conference 15 Tournament semifinals.

Porter also added 14 rebounds and four blocked shots for the Panthers (23-0), who will meet second-seeded Mountain View Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Freedom High School in the championship game.

Trey Porter scored 19pts, 5rbs and 2 blocks in the Panther's win yesterday over Mountain View. Hewitt was at the game. Trey had an interesting game that consisted of him getting hurt going up for a put back, he fell to the ground and Hewitt's jaw just dropped. It wasn't anything serious though, he came back at after halftime. He also was asked to leave the game twice because the refs saw blood on his jersey from another player. Lastly Mountain View's PG got tangled up with Trey under the rim and threw him on the ground pretty hard, their PG got called for a tech on it. It was a clear sign that he needs to bulk up at least 30lbs if a 6ft guard can throw him to the ground. The start of the game had him stealing the ball at half court, running down the court and slamming it while getting fouled. Overall it was a pretty good game for Trey but the other team did have no one over 6'3 probably. During the game I was going to walk over to Hewitt and ask him to get me a hotdog because he at least owes me that much for this season.

Therence Mayimba had 19 points in a recent game against Potomac School, many of which can be seen in this highlight video. He definitely likes to run the court and slash to the basket. Following the game, there are interviews with Mayimba and his coach.

Thanks for posting. Mason is certainly going to need Mayimba and co to come in and be able to score a bit next year...

This is just a guess on my part from watching a few videos, but I think Lockett might be more of a scorer than Mayimba out of the gate. I'd be thrilled if we could get 6-8 points out of both of them, but that might be asking a lot out of two freshmen.

he might be a "Spring signee" if he missed some deadline. I don't think they have put his commitment up on gomason yet so that might be apart of it.

Yes he verbaled after the fall signing period so he will be a spring guy. Thus hes not on the official commitment list.

24/7 Sports doesn't wait for LOI to be signed or the schools to announce commitments -- they had our other guys listed long before Mason said anything official. I'm guessing either Jackson isn't on their radar, or they missed it.

Yeah it is. For comparison, freshman year PPG for:

Folarin Campbell: 6.4
Cam Long: 4.1
Ryan Pearson: 7.0
Luke Hancock: 7.7
Sherrod Wright: 5.5
Bryon Allen: 1.4

and those are all future stars. There's two Isaiah Tate's, Jordan Carter's, Paris Bennett's, and Rashad Whack's for every one of them.

Potomac (25-0), which will host to Halifax Thursday at 7 p.m. in the semifinals with a state semifinal berth on the line, used precise ball movement along with an aggressive double team in the first quarter to build a 22-12 lead that set the tone for the game. Potomac Falls (20-7) committed eight turnovers, mostly due to the Panthers’ intensity on defense, which has been a staple all season.

Haynes, Felder, and Porter led the way defensively as well. Haynes had five rebounds, while Porter pulled down seven and notched four blocks. Felder grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Potomac.

Potomac shot 66 percent from the field for the game (27 for 41), getting most of its points inside with Porter using his height to score 14 of his 16 points from the field on layups or dunks, and Haynes also throwing down a couple dunks that put Potomac’s fans into a frenzy.
