Surely you jest gmujim92. Stats in high school mean less than nothing? Get real. You would really want a kid who consistently scored 2 points a game in high school? I realize Mayimba is not that guy, but your statement is ridiculous.
I've covered HS basketball for the past 21 years. Some of the kids I covered who went on to be extremely successful in college didn't put up eye-popping numbers in HS for a variety of reasons, while other kids who put up huge stats in HS never really got any better in college.
Because levels of competition and styles of play very greatly, it's really hard to say how any HS stats will translate to the next level.
Plus, I don't think anyone is expecting Mayimba to come in and put up huge scoring numbers right away. He'll bring a lot of other great stuff to the table while he hopefully develops into an explosive scorer.
So no, my statement is not ridiculous. Not at all.
